I know this is an old thread, but since I just installed this box and a search did not turn up any pics or reviews I thought I would chime in.

I have been using the MTX Thunderforms box with a RF P3SD210 sub for a while now and really like it. But I decided I wanted to try Dual 10's to see what kind of difference it would make overall. I ordered the box with the OEM dark gray cloth to match my interior and received the "FIRST" one in a couple weeks. When it arrived, I looked it over and thought for the 150.00 paid it didn't look too bad. The speaker terminal used is cheap but will get the job done. I don't think the box is screwed together but rather nailed and glued. I took it home from the office that night and loaded it up with two CDT 10" Subs. When I went to load it in the truck I realized they had built is wrong. They had it built for a right hand drive...

I called Mark at SuperCrew Sound and we was very helpful and rushed a new box out and I had it a week later. Anxious to finally hear dual 10's in my truck I loaded my CDT's in and went to put the box in the tuck.

The first thing I noticed is that the box does not clear the hump in the middle of the floor. The feet/raised ends do not raise the box high enough so the entire box is resting on the 7" wide hump in the middle of the floor.

You will also notice from the pictures that the extra 20 bucks for the "OEM Match" carpet was a waste. Maybe the Nismo has darker carpet? Anynow, this box does not fit but I have gone to this much trouble now so I stick it in as best I can and hook it up. On initial test, it didn't sound right, kinda flat so I fiddle with settings a bit on the amp and HU and just can't get to sound right. I take a look at the bottom and notice that the outside edge of the inner sub is actually hitting against the side of the "hump" in the floor. So now I have ANOTHER problem with the box.

So now, intent on at LEAST trying to hear what is will sound like, I move the box as far to the passenger side as I can and still have the door close.

At this position, I still think the one sub is hitting the floor a bit, but it sounds much better.

So, FINALLY I am to the "how does it sound" part. Now bear in mind I'm no expert in Subs and boxes and this is just my personal opinion. After a little tuning and adjusting the gains down, I'm .... well,...... undecided. It's a little "boomy and hollow" sounding but adjusting my crossover point and EQ is helping that out a bit. It definitely hits MUCH louder and harder then the single 10 by more than double it feels. The box is listed as being just over 1 cf and bing there are two 10's sharing the same space I'm going to try a little poly fill and see what it does for it. I definitely like the 2 10's over the single and if I can get it tuned to sound good at all volume levels i'll be happy with the sound, but the box has to be replaced or modified to fit correctly.

Designing in metal and wood (among other mediums) I know a few things about both.
Making round corners in wood is not as simple (or inexpensive) as keeping everything square.
But I just can't get past how out of place it looks.

Anyway, that's a bummer having so many issues for a box designed specifically for our trucks.
Somebody dropped the ball there.

Agreed, but keep in mind if it were not for the second sub hitting the hump in the floor, (which is a worse problem), It would not normally need to sit that far over and beyond the seats edge.

I don't know if anyone else on this forum has installed this box yet, but if so I would sure be interested to see if they had similar issues.

Undesrstood, but radiused vs. squared off, even if it's under the seat just doesn't flow well to my eye. Maybe it's the designer in me but we have demanding clients and architechs that know what they want even if it's next to impossible to do, almost non-functional and mega bucks to accomplish, they get what they want.

I'm fabricating an enclosure now, and documenting all of it with camera and notes. It will be finished in fiberglass, for maximum volume and strength, with minimum dimensions.

I plan to post all of the details when finished. Also just received my PDX-5. I'm good to go now

Awesome, can't wait to see it and hear your review of the end results. Congrats on the PDX amp. I've given serious consideration to them but I've spent enough money lately on this stuff and the old Soundstreams still sound really good.

I had a custom box made for our truck, ive got the CC also...and 2 10's downfiring, the middle hump was a problem and they noticed it in when we were planning the box, so what they did was remove the carpet and "bang" out the floor around it to countour the 2nd sub, so now it works fine.

and in the past i had one of marks boxes for the single 10', i used a JL w3v3, and it prety much bustd the bottom of the box out, the thinner part that allows greater mounting depth, all it took was some more wood glue and it was good to go, but keep in mind if you have a decent sub pressing agents it, itl be a matter of time untill you need to work on that part.

But also rember in the end...we have a truck that doesnt give you much space and you have to work with what you got, mark offers a box that has a little extra mounting depth and allows us to get quite the sub selection, i just had to spend alot more to get the type of sound i wanted and perfect fit, and ill be sellin the box in the future when i want to swap rides.

I saw your thread showing the box build and floor mod. They did really nice work.

Exactly, 150.00 for a drop in medium quality pre-fab vs several hundred dollars and several days waiting and having to dropping off truck for a very nice custom.
Mark's box is not a great box, but for the price and ease is a fair solution for many.
BTW... let me know when you are selling your box.
