I am looking to replace my 6x9's in the doors, but before I get shop happy on a new set of components, I would like to know from those that have replaced them the depth of the stock set. I see a lot of depth ranges, and would like to know what comes in ours so I don't get my heart set on a pair that would be too tall to fit. I have already replaced the head unit with a Sony DSX-S200X, which made a HUGE difference in the sound system already. Thanks for any help!

From what I remember during the hand full of times I've had the door panels off, I don't think you need to worry about depth at all. I put 6.5" component sets in my last Fronty, and the 6.5" mid would not mount in the stock 6x9 cutout so I cut an adapter plate out of 3/4" MDF that mounted to the 6x9" opening and then cut out a hole in that for the 6.5". Not that you will have to do this, but the door panal cleared, meaning you could even space them out atleasT 3/4" if you had to.

Thank you Fronty! I will be adding front components, a sub and amp as an Xmas gift to myself. Removing the door panels has me a bit tense, but it doesn't look too terrible looking at the FSM page - call it the factor of the unkown and uncharted territory for me!

Popping interior panels off is never fun, but being that your truck is only a couple years old, you shouldn't have to worry about anything being too brittle and delicate. Still be careful not to use excessive force though. It helps to get one of those pannel popping tools, but a wide flat blade screwdriver will do the trick. Be sure and locate the attachment points before you go prying away at the panels, and make sure you have all the scews that help secure the main door panel off before hand. I haven't seen the FSM section related to doing this, but it's great to have reference material going into it for the first time.
Above all, have fun, and if you start bleeding have a beer and take 5.

Good to know sir! Here is the link for the FSM on the door, it has a nice breakdown of where everything is. It would much easier if the speaker cover just popped off, but we all can't get that lucky.
Thanks for the help! As far as the bleeding, well, chicks dig scars! The beer is mandatory anyway, and never an issue. Thanks again!

When you take the door panels off, which is super easy, use this as an opportunity to (re)seal the plastic liner on the door itself. The day they built my truck they must have been low on the tacky glue stuff. After fixing this, I now have hardly any air blowing out of the door panel, and have much less wind noise and annoying whistles as before. Almost negated the need for new louder speakers. Almost.

Good tip Suzokie! I have noticed a slight air noise, but it is very minimal. Perhaps mine was put together on a day they restocked? Either way, I will double check that. Thank you!

Since mine are just sitting on a shelf in the garage, I just measured them.. 3-5/16" is what I get from the top of the lip, to the bottom of the magnet. I can measure from the back of the mounting surface to the bottom of the magnet if you would like. But I'm going to guess the lip is between 1/8 and 3/16.
If you decide to measure your clearance, make sure you do it with the window down
That is from the front 6x9 off a 2010 PRO-4X CC with the RF package.

Brilliant sir! Thank you for that, I have seen several that height above and below, so I will probably be sticking to the downside just to be on the safe side. I also plan on a DIY for the speakers, sub and head unit (I will have to take it back out anyway to get the sub connected) on the chance it will help other newbies like myself.
Thanks all of you for the great information!!!

3-1/16" from the back of the mountin surface got he very tip of the mag. But there is also a foam gasket that would make it almost 3" exactly if you include it.
