Stereo install questions

To get the stock radio out i just pop the front panel off right? No screws until getting the radio out right? And also is there a write up with pictures on how to run the wires for the amp and subs? Thanks

remove the coin tray on top with a putty knife. be careful because you can damage it easily. there is one screw that needs to be removed. remove it and just pull back on the center dash section.

i tired removing the coin tray and accidentally pulled off the entire thing with the screw and clip in place. nothing broke, that i know of. only damage might be the plastic that held the clip in place. im kinda worried that the stereo might be too easy to remove

Yeah, I keep hearing that (and I know the FSM says to do it that way), but I've never once popped that tray off and removed the screw first. My dash has been apart at least six times, and it still fits snugly and doesn't rattle.

Go figure...

The "great screw debate" was reciently argued to death here untill the moderator (thankfully) closed the thread. Chances are you didn't damage anything although I would pull the screw if you were to do it again.

As for tHU being too easy to remove, thats a good thing. If some dirt bag breaks in and wants that radio, they are going to take it. The only variable is how much of your dash they have to wreck in the process. Learned the hard way that the HU itself can be the cheap /easy part of the aftermath. Believe me- Easy is a good thing!

Does anyone have photos or know where any photos of their installed non-stock stereos? I'm looking to change mine out, but I'd like to see some examples.
