Started my audio build...JL,Polk,JVC

I have had the equipment sitting around for a little while now and started putting it in..

I had to make an adapter plate for the front since factory is 6x9 and I went with a 6.5. I have installed the front Polk Momo comp set. I have also hooked up the rear Polk Momo coaxial 6.5's and have the crossovers ran, etc.

I still have a lot ahead but will get it done within the next couple weeks, I hope.

1)Make platform for sub amp and 4 channel amp to fit under each seat.
2)Run power wires, ground wires, rca's, etc
3)Hook up front comp speakers, tweets, and crossovers
4)Build box for sub

Pictures of tonights progress.
Pic 1 - adapter plate for front with Polk Momo 6.5 comp set
Pic 2- Hard to see but Polk Momo coaxial mounted and ready to play.

Looking good!
I have the db series in the front and they sound amazing. I can't even imagine how the momos sound!
I have Q.
Does the door panel get pushed forward with the polk grills on?

On the back, no. On the front, yes. I am going to countersink the fronts in so that they will sit without hitting the door panel.

You must be using 3/4" MDF for a non-coax to have interference??
Make sure you leave room for the speaker to "throw" when you countersink. FWIW, I just used 1/4" MDF and everything fits fine.

I didn't bother with the Polk grills. That's what the door grill is for.
As a side note, I do have two extra frisbees laying around now.

I did use 3/4" only because I had it laying around and didnt want to make another purchase. It would have been easier but I hate wasting money.

Yes and no. The door grill is there to protect it while people are sitting in it. But, whats going to happen when you take it somewhere and they take your panel off and in the middle of it all, the door panel hits your speaker or you hit it accidentally while the door panel is off. Plus they look cooler on.

I just didn't bother mostly because it would have been an extra step, took more time and possibly added complications (ie door panel not fitting back on right).

It's your truck man, do what you want.

Where are you mounting the MMC6500 tweeters is the question I have (see my sig for pictures if you haven't already)?
The "A" pillar worked great for me, no indirect treble glass bounce going on, no dust laying on the speaker, no direct baking in the sun and I have mine pivoted back as far as they go towards the occupants.

Mounted them there in my last truck too, they sound awesome there.

I know this is a crappy update post but I have gotten a little farther this weekend. I get out of summer classes wednesday so I should be getting it finished up this soon.

Got done:
1)Made new 6x9 to 6.5 adapter plates. The 3/4" mdf was way to thick so I had to make them with 1/4" MDF. The door panel finally fits now.
2)Made a plate for the rear speakers to sit on as well. Before I had them just screwed into the factory plastic dome and it had tons of air escape route so since I had plenty of 1/4" mdf I made plates for the rear as well.
3)I made the amp racks to fit under each seat.
4)Mounted the amps and crossovers to amp racks. Each rack consists of 1 amp and 2 crossovers.
5)Redone all wiring going to door speakers. All they need to do is be ran under carpet and installed to crossover.

Need to do list:
1)Hook up speakers to crossovers and amp
2)Run all patch cords, wiring to amps
3)Build sub box
4)Mount sub in box

Almost done guys.
