Do any of you have the XM SureConnect system on your truck. It save you having to change the FM channel while on a trip. It's attached to your trucks stock antenna. Really good thing to have on a trip.

IMO, fm directs are better, and result in a cleaner looking installation, they're available for xm and sirius. as far as the antenna... I cheat, I have the stock bubble looking thing in the middle of my front roof.

I have sirius, my antenna route is highlighted in red. From where the red stops it goes into the engine compartment and through the grommet in the firewall to the receiver on my dash. I just used a pair of small flat head screw drivers to put the wire under the windshield molding. It takes some time and patience but you can't see any wires so it was worth it. The only reason I didn't mount it near the 3rd brake light was because I didn't have the deep sockets you need to get it off.

Thanks All

So - I ended up going the third tail light route. I bought a long 8mm socket as that size doesn't come standard with any of my kits. $4 at local hardware store. As noted above the removal and re-installation of the screws is the trickiest part. Took me some time to get them lined up and off because my wrench kept bumping into the roof liner. I routed the wire along the top of the window seals and down the passenger pillar. I haven't yet decided where to install the receiver. Trying to decide between under the passenger seat, in the dash or in one of the glove boxes. I know this is personal choice for the most part and will pick something. I am leaning towards the dash because I hope to install a sub and some amps and want to leave the room under the passenger seat free. Thanks again all.

I mounted the antenna on the top of my dash with some double sided tape. I never really cared for the way it looks mounted on the roof/body. I have done it like this with all my vehicles. It will still get a good signal through the windshield as long as it is not obstructed by anything else.

I did this as well, now the only thing left is to hard wire the receiver. Last antenna was mounted on the roof and the wire wound up getting damaged.

I've had both XM and Sirius. I had my XM antenna mounte on the dash and had excellent reception. The Sirius antenna had poor reception when mounted on the dash. I had to mount it on the roof for good reception.
