Sat radio antenna install???
I have done a bunch of searching on here but can't seem to find what I am looking for - so here goes...... What is the best way to get the Sat Antenna on the roof and then route to the controller under the passenger seat? Rear brake light? If so, how do you get it through there? Thank you!

This is how I did it in my 06 crew cab for a Sirius antenna:
1) Two plastic caps on inside of truck headliner at 3rd brake light, remove these. 2) 8mm deep socket to remove 2 nuts, bolts are extra long, deep well socket a must. Be careful not to loose the nuts in the headliner. 3) Two people at this stage is preferred. Pull light off outside of truck. Fish connector end from outside to inside and pull in all extra wire, leaving a little slack outside. 4) Check for interference from wire not letting light sit flush and and adjust if necessary (notch with dremel?). Some guys said they did make a notch in the brake light plastic, some guys said they didn't. I did not do that and my antenna wire is fine, light sits flush, rubber gasket seems to have it sealed. I've even been through an automatic car wash a few times with no leakage. 5) Put nuts back on and proceed to routing antenna wire. I ran my wire along the headliner at the rear and at the corner where the pillar plastic is I just tucked it in, ran it under the black rubber door gasket (rear door), under the middle pillar plastic, under the rubber gasket of the front door, down the rubber gasket in the front door to under my dash (my Sirius "brain box" is behind my HU). All of this wire routing was at the top of the vehicle until the front door where I brought it down. Hope this helps, good luck and welcome to the club!

![]() Mine is in the upper glove box with my Ipod. I ran along the roof tucking the wire into the headliner. Down the door with the wire under the trim panel. Along the floor and under the dash. Its really easy.

I ran mine through the fire wall and attached the intenna by the driverside windshield wiper arm and used double sided tape so that i wouldnt have to drill any holes. The antenna blends in with the cowl.

I ran mine up the passenger side pillar to the headliner then ran on top of the headliner on the passenger side then across the back of the cab above the headliner to the third brake light and then out of the third brake light and mounted just in front of the light on the roof, clean and easy install. I also mounted the tuner behind the lower glove box to one of the supports for the dash, then snaked my wiring up to the headunit. be careful when you take off the OS handle on the passengers side roof to route the antenna wire, my buddy stripped on of the bolts holding it in place when he put it back in (he didn't tell me either, I found out when I took it off to look at a few things. irritating). Installing it is really, really easy (took me 20-30 minutes with basic hand tools)

However, my brother just leaves his antenna on the dash and has no reception issues. Knowing what I know now, I would do exactly as you did. I don't like the antenna flagging I have a upgraded radio and the (white)roof location does this VERY well. Moving it to the location you note has been on my "to do" list all winter. (That is if I don't just cancel the service and remove it completely)

I just looked at my install guide i got. And it said that it should be mounted on the front of the roof. I have always had mine on the back of the roof. Does it make a difference where it is located?

As long as it has a clear view of the sky it doesn't matter. I put the one on my wife's car on the trunk.
