New Sub Setup Thoughts

Well guys after seeing BlkFrontier's? (correct me if im wrong) cool console sub box for his DD 10, im thinking about doing something similar for my first gen.

My main reason for doing it is my brother is preparing to get the truck and he wants some more bass, and my box for two 8's behind the seat is just not putting out enough.

So i'm in the process now of coming up for thoughts on the design and actual 10" sub i should use in the box.

If anyone has any ideas or design tips, feel free to throw them at me!

Hrm.. i dunno... thats a nifty idea... but in the 2002's theres not a whole lotta room in the center armrest/// but i havnt seen that other guys sub..

like you, i have 2 8's behind my rear seats... they touch the seats of course, and they give me enough bass... nothing like my old rodeo, and nothing like my 2008 will produce, but the 2002's were small on space. heres my setup in my 2002 (nothing in my 2008 yet), im sure its similar to yours:

that's almost identical to mine, and for me it's more than enough bass just not to my brother...only thing i've had wrong with mine is even with spacers on the seat latch it makes the metal in my seat rattle at certain frequencies and aggervates the hell out of me. have you had that problem with yours?

as for not enough room, i've noticed that but the sub's going to be on top with a grille and used somewhat as an armrest also since my truck doesnt have one

I would try a ported setup with a slimline sub behind the seat. You could probably go as big as a 12 depending on the space back there.

The problem is with the 2002's and around.. is mounting depth. We have the width its just, we have no mounting depth at all... not like the 2008 that i have, its got more room i believe

i actually thought about that before i put the original setup back there, only prob with it is that anything over 11" tall back there wont allow the seat to close.

my box is 10.5" tall and with spacers and everything i have to almost break the seat to get it to close.

Did you grind out your jack stand or take the caveman approach like me, banged it as flat as you could?

Should be able to get a shallow mount 10 in there for sure.
