need ideas for HU modding

never did like how the HUs are tilted soo much in these trucks, and i could never see the display because the sun was always shining on it. so i decideed to adjust it.
started with the stock brackets and drilled a new front hole a little lower to level it out.

but after reinstalling the HU the front sits a little too close to the bottom of the trim ring. theres not enough room for the motorized face to open completely. tomorrow ill move the front up a bit and the rear down slightly.

id like some suggestions on how to fill in the gaps around the HU??

How about some fiberglass?
I like your idea. I have the same exact issues with the sun shinning on the HU display. What I was thinking of doing was just cut some plastic pieces and make a custom cover for it, similar to the ones they have for gps units like the picture below.

ive only worked with glass once before. used it to seal and strenghen my brothers sub box. it works but it doesent look that great. want somthing that looks like it belongs in the truck not just somthing i just slapped together.

i have a trim ring for a DD intall i was going to modify with some peaces of plastic epoxied together and then bondo to smothe it out and then paint it.
