HU install on 08 Frontier without stock radio

Hello everyone. Just purchased a new base 08 Frontier. It does not have a factory stereo right now (just a black cover where the stereo normally is installed).

I am planning to add an aftermarket stereo. Does anyone know what the wiring/speaker situation is? Is the car prewired and ready to go? Are speakers already installed? If not, what size speakers fit in the front doors? 6x9?

Any help will be appreciated. You will save me some time taking the dash and panels apart to see what's going on.

Chris

IIRC the '08s come prewired for four speakers and the antenna should be in place.

These two threads will help you get the dash apart and put speakers in the doors:

There may be some slight differences with the '08 mounting layout, but the trim removal process should be the same.

Thought I'd follow-up on this. Speakers were in place and wired up. The antenna was installed however there was no wire to be found. I called a couple of dealers and they informed me that I shouldn't expect to find a wire for the antenna. A bit of a bummer since getting to the antenna to run a wire is not easy (at least it didn't seem like it). I ended up buying one of the "internal" antennas and leaving it behind the radio. Works okay for now. Would be a lot better if I actually spend time installing it on the top of the windshield but didn't want to bother.

The antenna is on the vehicle, but the wire terminates behind the RH A-Pillar finisher just above the dash. There is a center piece of wire that is installed to the dash when you get a factory radio. You should be able to by an antenna extension to make the connection. You may be able to get it from a dealer that knows what they are doing. Check with tone of the dealers that advertises here. You may also be able to find one from a salvage yard. Get one from a Frontier, Pathfinder, Xterra, Armada, or Titan, preferable not an XE version of any of them. The wire is thinner and may not offer the same quality reception. Other Nissans may work as well.
Wish I could find a part #.

Found this, but I do not see a part number for the antenna feeder wire that connects the radio to the antenna wire.

We put a single DIN in his truck. It already had a pocket. All we did was replace the blank face plate with his radio. It attached to the same bkt the blank face plate screwed into. Nothing else required, except an antenna feeder wire.

I dont know if anybody mentioned it, but make sure you buy the antenna adapter. The new nissans (at least my 08 NISMO) don't have the standard antenna plugs, banana plug thingy?... instead they are kinda wired into a rectangle looking thingy... goto crutchfield.com and look for it

Does anyone know the part number for the stereo pocket from nissan. I did not want to buy an aftermarket stereo kit to install a single din stereo cause I heard it doesn't look or fit well. I see that a few people had the actual nissan pocket where they just remove the plastic cover above the pocket to put single din sterero. Does anyone have a picture of this. I want to order it but want to make sure that it will work with my single din unit.
