Finished my sub enclosure

Hey guys after about a month of on again off again working on my system in the frontier I finally got the sub enclosure finished this weekend. actually I built 2, one with an 8 inch woofer and one with a 10 inch woofer. I think I am going to stick with the 8. As I am getting older I want less boom and more rounded sound.

If you look at the bottom of the box there is an open space, I am thinking about putting a hinged door there so I can keep my tie down cleats stored in there.

what do you guys think over all.

There was a guy on here about a year ago that had one built by a shop that was quite similar. I have wanted the same type ever since, but I have not started my system until last week. I think I want the 10" though.

Is there any chance you have dimensions of the parts of the box? I would love to have a head start if it is at all possible!

If I calculated it right it should be 1.2 cu before displacement of the woofer.. From what I read it's the max air space for this woofer. I did think about throwing my 10" in there but I built this box out of 1/2" mdf. My 10" version I used 3/4. I used the 1/2 on this one because it left just enough space at the bottom so that I could secure the whole box via the mounting hole for the jump seat that used to be there.

LilRed let me see what I can throw together of my notes. it was almost an on the fly construction.

Looks good bud. Wat to use up some of the unused space like that damn jump seat. Does anybody use the one behind the drivers seat, except for midj...er....I mean "little people"?

i agree. that might explain the "boomy" sound he described. i would suggest bringing the box volume down to the average or small recommended volume to help tighten up the sound.

VERY nice job. I like your idea of the storage bin as well.
FWIW, I'm "older" and happy with my single 8" However, given the size of that box, and the fact that you've already given up the space, I think I'd go with the 10". Not for more "boom" but for more clarity in the under 50 hz range. An 8 will do the job but a 10 will do it easier when you need to reach LOW.
