So I guess I pushed the Hybrid 8" too hard and the cone separated from the surround. So, we threw a Hertz 8" in (only thing we had that would fit) and it sounds twice as good and the enclosure is way out of spec for the Hertz.
I've been out of the car audio scene for a while now so I'm not trying to be crass or funny but is Hybrid supposed to be a high scale brand? I've heard of Hertz, JL Audio, and a lot of other higher end brands, just can't recall hearing about Hybrid in a while.
Great looking sub box by the way. That looks like it is going to be a quality piece of work!!
Hybrid Audio does have some great high end component, their subs are good if your just looking for a sound quality build. The Hybrid sub just was not enough for me and I might have pushed it too hard, the Hertz 8 is a beast. The Hertz in the pic above is the older version and will probably go in the wifes car, I have the new version for mine.
So first and foremost I have to give a huge thanks to my good friend Jon Webb of Performance Audio Las Vegas. He has had my truck for quite a while as some of you know and recently worked his *** off to get it done for me. The time it took had nothing to do with the amount of work being done but because I didnt need my truck because I have a work truck and after he told me he was going a little extreme with it as a thanks, I told him to "take your time". Well he took his time and damn was it worth it. This thing came out awesome, I couldn't be happier and it sounds bad *** also. That silver stripe was somewhat of a last minute thing that ended up taking some time to make it look that good. The stripe ties into the other silver accent trims in the truck. The enclosure is a hybrid fiberglass/MDF mix with the rounded corner made to flow with the shape of the seats. The corner is also MDF done by a process called "kerfing". Here are some pics of the start to finish with one pic of the new Hertz tweeters and A shot of the truck in the driveway of our house that it has not been at since we have been living here.
Very nice man. what do you have going on as far as your source? I've been thinking it over for a while and i was considering just leaving it with the stock radio and running the channels out through an Audison Bit Ten or something similar to clean up and balance the stock radio. I just don't want to have to fight the fight of getting adapters for the steering wheel controls, back up camera, etc etc. I already have a GPS with lifetime updates and my iphone works great with the stock unit as well so its just really making me want to not mess with anything but the sound quality components...
Right now just a simple Clarion HU with the axxess steering control adapter. Amp is an Arc ks300.4. I will be adding a mono Arc amp and the bit 10 some day.
Nice job. It looks and fits just like the sub / enclosure for the Rockford fosgate that comes in some frontys. I do like how mine fits and doesn't take up any space.
Its not too big but it is a tad over 1 cubic ft. It goes just far enough to the other side so I cant use the cargo tray, but I new that was going to happen. It does look factory though especialy with the silver piece to match the pathfinder switch plates and the other silver trim.
Yeah, I have the 2013 stock SV truck value system.. No subs, just the dash and door speakers and then in the rear doors there is a speaker but it's really quiet for some reason. I figure if I swap out some speakers I can test if it is an issue with the speakers or the head unit, and then once I know I can go from there. In the end I'll may end up replacing the head unit just to have better iphone functionality but if the sound quality and balance can be rectified by swapping out the factory speakers than I'll have to rethink it some, besides, if I end up going with the Bit 10 then what the rear channel does on the stock head unit doesn't really matter.
