UCA bump stop

I saw a thread by BlackTigerSE, and after talking with him, I decided to try it myself.
The bump stop is from Energy Suspension.
1. Drill out the hole closest to the engine to 3/8".
2. Ditch the nylon nut that comes with the bump stops - I decided to go with wingnuts (3/8 - 16) because they would lock themselves in place inside the UCA.
3. Place the wingnut atop the plate, and I decided to use a 1/4" bolt to guide it into place by feeding it through the top hole, through the wing nut, and then through the bottom hole.
4. Place the bump stop bolt flush with the 1/4" bolt, then start threading the bump stop while retracting the 1/4" bolt.
5. I also used some washers since the plate on the UCA is recessed.
Here are some pics: the round things on the UCA by the ball joint are just bushings I've been using to stop UCA contact on the bucket, but hopefully they will become obsolete thanks to the bump stops.

Thanks again BlackTigerSE for the ideas and help.

Since i have installed them, they have held up well. God knows how many times i made contact with these babies on. It's been almost a month of testing and im certain these will do their job. Can't hurt to add these on, even if you only raised you truck 2". Nothing to loose, except $12-20.00 and 15 mins of your own time.

Sorry about that bad angle. You're right, that isn't a bolt from the UCA to the bucket...it's just something in the background (I need to get a better pic.

That's awesome. I think I enven have some of those bumps from another project. Thanks for the tip. I will have to go take a look at my UCa to see what holes you are talking about.

Great Tip.
