I've diagnosed problems with my '92 Mitsu doing just that with an analog ohmmeter, but it has only 55 or so error codes. Today's vehicles have a bazillion codes and it's a lot tougher to countthe pulses, especially if there are multiple codes stored. It's kind of fun messing with this stuff tho.

I think I had to hold it down for a few sec.

I only did it once.

i got it. i was letting go of the button too soon after i turned the key on. i thought my guage needles were going to spin circles with i got the guage test. THEY WERE FREAKIN OUT!!! now only if i new what all that other stuff was on there. the "batt" must have something to do with the battery. i cranked up my stereo on that on and the numbers would go down. im asuming form a loss in voltage. and there was another one that moved too. may have osmething to do with the gas. when i shook the vehicle, the numbers would change from like 80 to 110. but like i said, i wish i knew what all that other stuff was. there was like 30 different things on there. if you had a problem, i wonder where the code would pop up....?

My Focus did this. I was playing with mine at lunch and there were an assload of functions that I couldn't make sense out of.

On my Ford the codes fuction started out with the abbreviation 'dtc' (Diagnostic Trouble Codes). Couldn't find it on the truck though.

I like the digital tachometer function.

most vehicles refer to these "codes" as DTC's. at least in my experience... does this trick work on SE computers or just nismo and LE's?
