How to remove Automatic shifter

Hey Guys,,

I have searched and searched and cannont find any step-by step for removing a 08 automatic (t) shifter. The shifter plate (brushed alumn. that has the (P N R D 1-2) has to be replaced. The dealer really scuffed it up,,,they are willing to replace it for free,,,but they are over 40 miles (one-way) They said they could just DHL it to me and I could snap it on.

It looks as though the (T type) shifter with the O/D button has to come off for that plate to un-snap and slide off?

Am I missing anything? Again, I searched and saw sleepy23's shifter set-up,,,saw threads on showing off shifter knobs,,,but could not find anything on how to remove the actual factory automatic shifter..

I would really appreciate any help with this.

Thank you in advance...

Pat

Bump!!

Is there not anyone here that knows how to remove the automatic shifter?

I had my interior parts replaced as part of an insurance claim (breakin). The window glass had scratched that piece and the dealer forgot to replace it. When I got there I pointed out the mistake and they sent the truck to a mechanic to replace the part. It took about 5 minutes to complete the task (including getting the part from stock). It must be easy. Sorry I don't have more information.

i will try to post up some pics for you. i havent done my write up yet. let me post the pics and then you can email with questions because i really need to go do some work in the attic before it gets any hotter.
stand by for pics.

see pics for removing shifter handle, then there are only 4 tabes holding the face on. pop those loose and there ya go. i'm sure you know, but you need to pop the cup holder trim out and then the shifter bezel.
