I just noticed those hood shocks Zero Six LE, nice idea. I have noticed the hood arm could be much longer than what it is, and going that route there would be ideal.

Just to help anyone that may be on the fence, I definitely was, and was trying to decide between bypass, new rad, or bypass and aftermarket and/or additional coolers.

I made up my mind to hold off my decision; before spending any money on a new rad or aftermarket/addition coolers, i installed a temp gauge. After driving for months with the temp gauge and stock setup, i bypassed the rad cooler.

I see no difference in temps, ~150 *F on the highway, ~165-180(rarely up to 180) after a long time in stop and go traffic.

Zero Six LE, Great write up as I'm a new owner of a 2006 Crew Cab LE I've been very concerned and now that I have read this post I'm not as worried but was wondering since I live in the Caymans and our average outside temp is 80-90 degree F.
I was thinking of replacing the stock cooler for this one also what size is the cooling lines because the one I found is -6an would that work?

or do you think I could just add a cooling fan for the stock one with a temp sensor to trigger power/gound to the fan once the temp starts to climb?

Thanks. The hose barb on the air cooler is about 8.24 MM. I never used a fan with mine when I had the bypass. You might be able to just install a fan in front of the external OEM air cooler. A gauge would be helpful if it reads the temperature from the right part of the transmission. There are some posts about gauges on this forum somewhere but I can't pinpoint them.

Since I have an e-fan in place of the clutch fan, I have been able to do some experiments... When the engine reaches 200 deg, if it continues to climb, the AC fan will turn on even if the AC is off.

Since the AC fan is right behind the trans cooler, I would assume it will turn on if the trans temp starts to climb? My trans has only ever gotten to what I would call a high temp once, when I was driving it very spirited

I'll activate the trans gauge on my BD and see if I notice the AC fan being related to trans temp as I drive over the next few weeks.

I want to add an electric fan to the OEM trannny cooler mounted on the passenger side of my 08 Nismo CC 4X4 radiator. I already have a fan that will fit and now need to find and install a auto switch. I see there is a port on the right side of the cooler that's plugged. Is this port threaded and can it be used for a E fan temp switch? If so what size are the threads?

Thanks!

Zero Six LE, You said "when I HAD the bypass" so what do you have now? and Why?

I don't know if that port you speak of is threaded or not.
