i bought after market rad for my 2007 4 cyl ( 25000 mi ) because of the rad coolent getting into peoples auto tranny's , then i changed my tranny fluid to the new nissan fluid . also installed a tranny fluid cooler between the rad out and tranny.

i think nissan knew they had a problen with the older trans fluid , thats why they changed to a better fluid that didn't eat thru the fluid cooler in rad.

i think i bought the rad from rockauto for about $140 , worked great.

It was not the fluid causing the issues, it was the crappy welds that had pinholes in the over time.

Mandangalo, what radiator did you buy?

Dubie here is the link to what I purchased. 2 yr limited warranty. If you do the live chat, I pretended I was undecided and mentioned buying it from another online vendor. They gave me 5% off so I bought it.

Hey Mandangalo,

The part you linked to says it fits for Frontier but the dimensions show only 27x14" core dimensions. Similar replacement parts are 27x23 or so. Do you think that spec is wrong in their description or is this a smaller radiator?

I had no clue about the cross contamination until I joined this forum, and now im losing sleep over the issue. I checked my radiator fluid and thank god its still nice a green (thats good right). Is this really a ticking time bomb that needs to be fixed ASAP?

Droopy, the radiator mod is where the trans cooler, which is located inside the radiator, gets bypassed so to avoid cross-contamination between the two fluids. Price not withstanding, Griffin makes an all aluminum custom replacement that several people have installed. Its a work of art!!!

Motorcop75, I checked out Griffin and it looks really cool but they dont list Nissan.
Is it a universal fit or something. I guess I will call them and see what they say.
Thanks for giving me a direction to start with
