That's the same as mine. What you can't see on mine is where I spliced the 4 pin harness after it forms the Y. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow and show you my setup.

One suggestion. If you plan to do any off-roading, you might want to relocate the plug to the bumper as shown in this thread: Can you spot the mods?

I broke the connector on the first trip, and you cannot purchase the plastic housing seperatly.

Why did you need to go up to the kick panel, when there are the nitftyplug right back there.

There is a very easy 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor that jsut plugs into the 7 pin and has 4 pin out. Use that!!

I went the cheap route with my four pin harness. It was sold through the company I bought my hitch from. SO I jsut had them throw it in the order. It was still 20 bucks or so. But it doens't use the factory hitch connectors in the rear. Instead you pull the tail light connector and it "Y"s into it. Seems fine but...

You know how the blinkers will come on and not blink when you have a burnt out turn signal bulb. It has something to do with the resistance with one less bulb. Well this spliced harness has that same effect. The turn signals only blink sometimes, and sometimes they won't blink. Not a big deal cause you can manually blink your turn signal. But this sucks, cause usually I am towing, worried about my load going around the corner, using my turn singal cause of the on coming or cars behind me, and I have to manually blink my turn signal with one hand, shift and take a corner.

Bottom line. Pay the extra money and get the nissan Harness.

I have a canopy that I sometimes use - it has a brake light and interior light. Using that adapter is not feasible for any extended amount of time.

7 Pin Towing Harness and Brake Controller

Hi! I' just joined the club. I just purchased a 2007 Frontier KC. It was not wired for towing. I have a 15 yr old Kelsey 81741 Electronic Brake Controller I bought new but never used it. It come with a 20amp self resetting circuit breaker. I've been doing some research on the 7 pin wiring harness. From Nissan Courtesy Parts I downloaded the installation instructions on a part number 999T8-D407P Reciever Hitch, Tow Harness Kit (7Pin) 2005-2007 Frontier. Now this kit is for hooking up the 7 pin connector harness at the bumper and adding the relay jumper and relays at the kick panel. Then according to the instructions "Power for operation of trailer brakes requires installation of additonal components: 1. Jumper harness Part Number 24167-A6000 2.Trailer brake controller unit- Available from most supply stores. Is this correct? If I understand what I'm reading my 20 amp breaker hooks to the appropiate B+ wire on the 24167-A6000 harness (which installs under the dash or cockpit as the instructions put it) along with the brake controller output. It looks like I don't have to run any wires to the battery or back to the 7 pin connector. I'm running power from battery to controller to the trailer using the factory truck wiring? Also, in the 7 pin wiring harness kit illustrations where it is talking about attaching the relay bundle to the bracket, the illustrations show a "with AMP" and a "without AMP" What is this AMP it is making reference to?

Hello Eh!
Notice in the pic of the right kick panel connector. My question is the pigtail that plugs in has two ends or plugs. What plugs into the opposite end? Probably behind the foam cover.

If you just make a connection into the one plug, seems you haven't done much to change the wiring. Pigtail should tie something to something else. Are there two connectors in the kick panel and the jumper/pigtail ties them together?

I assumed the AMP was part of upgraded sound system that my truck did not have. I had lots of room to secure the bundle of relays. As long as the relays are wrapped in the foam and secured they will be fine and won't rattle.

Our trucks are prewired under the dash for a trailer brake to be installed. I bought a brake controller and it included a specific wire for the frontier so it was a plug and play deal. I would suggest this route as its not a ton of money and the new brake controllers are better than the old ones.

Here are a few pics:

Brake controller mounted in truck.

Sorry I did not take a pic of the install under the pass. kick panel.
