OK another annoyance about my 01!!

OKay this time its brakes. Now, back in April my dad had the brakes replaced, at 160,000 miles. They're brand new, but theyre not Nissan, theyre just aftermarket pairs so apparently theres a thing with 1st gens that aftermarket doesnt fit 100% perfect, and even though nothings wrong and theyre fine, when you randomly hit the brakes, you hear a CLANK coming from up front. Now, everybody says its normal, even the allexperts guy, but i swear that its getting so annoying/bad that it CANT BE NORMAL! sometimes when im pressing hte brakes and im next to a median or a fence, it amplifies whatever sound it is, and sometimes i hear a creaking sound. when i dont hear the CLANK it sounds as if somethings really creaky and as if its a real creaky door opening up lol, if you understand what i mean....it's just getting to the point that it's loud and annoying and i might spend money just to put nissan brakes on, despite the fact theres only 3,000 miles on these ones!!!!!! anybody EVER have this problem!?!?

did you also change out the rotors? sometimes rotors being worn will cause wierd noises especially if they are warped. and even if the people who put the brakes on turned the rotors it can still make the noises. i say try new rotors and pads.

i had dumb problems lke that with the brakes on my old S10. plus, the aftermarket ones never lasted worth a damn and squealed like no tomorrow.

i think when it comes time, i'm going with genuine oem replacements on my 2006. the originals are at 25k miles and still look strong and are quiet to boot. can't beat that. when it comes to brakes, you get what you pay for i've noticed.

Check your pad hardware. Most people don't replace it when they do the pads. It can be worn down or missing and allow the pads to "rock" back and forth causing a clunk.

My 2000 Accord doesn't like aftermarket pads either. The Honda pads were only a few dollars more so it wasn't a big deal.

without hearing it, it's hard to say, but it sounds like it's just pad shift to me. most likely no big deal at all, but if it bothers you it's an easy fix. go up to autozone and get a bottle of DBQ(disc brake quite). probably like a red colored stuff that resembles glue. pull off the shims, and goop the holy hell out of the backing plate and put the shims back on. throw the pads back on and you're set. the stuff takes a half hour or so to dry, but will solve 99% of pad shifting problems.

when i replaced the brakes on my 03, i did use nissan pads, but wasnt gonna pay $65 a piece for rotors, so i got the carquest specials, both rotors for like 30 bucks never had a problem with it.

Its The Way The Aftermarket Pads Fit In The Calipers. Get Your Self A Set Of Nissan Pads And Harware. The Aftermarket Pads Dont Use The Original Hardware And Thats Alot Of The Sounds You Can Hear. The Rotors Will Be Fine Just May Warp Alot Quicker Than Original.
