Question Changing 4 cyl. spark plugs

Curious if anyone has information regarding changing the plugs on a 4 cylinder 1488cc. I have new NKG PLZKAR6A-11 plugs on the way. Why am I changing them? I noticed a drop off of my MPG recently from 26 to 22 and want to see if changing the plugs makes a difference.

A step by step process with pix would be great but no pix would work.

Thanks,
Dave

I don't think it could be much simpler... unplug wires, screw old ones out... torque the new ones in to the proper torque specification - which would be listed in the factory service manual available for download in the sticky at the top of our DIY forum. If you want to get fancy about it, use some compressed air to blow any grit out the spark plug ports after you pull the cables.

Good luck!

Checked out the DIY thread and the download for the manual wants me to subscribe in order to get it. NOT.

I am just curious as to what the actual removal process is given that the plugs are not like a V6 or V8 and not visable as such.

Thanks,

Dave

also the MPG drop could be from the winter blend gas as well might not be just plug

The Nissan got wrecked did the jeep thing now messing with a turbo Subaru and 960 sqft of shop space

Sorry if my earlier post oversimplified things... I thought you were talking about the D22 Frontier (98-04) which is super easy.

The FSM download host is a little confusing. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page for the correct free download link. Close out pop-ups and wait for the countdown... it's not ideal, but it's free. Or you can always go to Nissan Publications and pay $20 for a one day subscription.

Assuming your engine is similar to KA24DE in the D22, the plugs are recessed into ports, so you'd use a spark plug socket with an extension... not sure if it's different on the newer engines.
