Well as the story goes I've built a rear plate and rear tube bumper for myself and a handful of forum members. In addition a set of rock sliders for my Pro4x, so I though I would start working on a front bumper with my dad. I had started working on the CAD model when I was messaged by a forum member to see if I'd be interested in building him a front plate bumper for this Frontier. He wanted something robust and practical, and his request was to have a front receiver to mount a winch instead of it being mounted on the inside of the bumper.
The bumper will be fabricated from 3/16-in thick steel plate. While the mounting brackets on the bumper will be fabricated from 3/8-in steel plate and the frame mounting brackets will be out of 1/2-in steel plate. Lastly, the D-rings are made from 3/8-in steel plate. All pieces will be CNC plasma cut; in addition, I will have the center section and side section pieces will be CNC brake press.
Before wr start CNC plasma cutting all the pieces out... I decided to make a full scale foam core model just like what I did with previous bumper builds
I have a Pro4x, which has the one piece bumper cover on it. During the design and assembly stages I didn't want to cut the bumper cover, so I bought the correct upper fascia so all would turn out correct. Now the bumper and the upper fascia assembled back on the truck.
The receiver tube is a class 3 2" standard receiver tube. It is also cross brace supported from the tube sides to the the bumper attachment brackets.
After welding on the end caps at each of the ends was complete the next step was to take the flap disk and go over all the welded joints. My dad is a perfectionist, so this does take some time. Now this is the finished product and the next stop is FedEx for shipment to the buyer's powder coating shop of choice.
Any plans to sell blueprints for this like you did for the rear bumper? BTW, I am finally ready to start cutting to build 2 of the rear bumpers from your plans. Big fan of your work!
So forum member Pathung received his bumper back from powder coating that we built for him. Below are some picture of the finished product on his rig. Looks great Pathung! Thanks again for the opportunity to build this for you!
Thanks to you, eolivas, for a job well done - in design, fabrication, and final fit; I'm more than satisfied with the bumper, and wouldn't hesitate to commission a custom rear bumper from you in the near future.
I'm going to be painting my grille, hence the grille-less photo below; it does however show the bumper well:
^ They are Hella Racing horns at 120db. I did the same thing a while back on my 2006 and have it for my 2013 as well. You can get them on Amazon for $40. They make a high pitch sound so the louder quads, buggies, trucks can hear it over their exhaust. I have had quite a few people nearly sh!t themselves and almost dump a quad when I came up behind them trying to pass.
All you need to do is add some mounting brackets and extend the wires from the stock horns.
My dad and I just finished a pre runner plate front bumper and radiator skid plate. Just a few finishing touch and it will be complete. Here is a preview of the bumper... Any early picture
Eolivas, you've done it. That's the bumper I want! Looks like I better get to putting it in my budget.
and on another note, all your projects look great. Each have some obvious time, skill, and design put into them. I work with my hands on all sorts of materials including metals (and have been told I am too picky on aesthetics), and have done a share of fabrication; so I can appreciate the work both you and your dad have done.
Thumbs up from me! I look forward to your upcoming work.

If I wanted a pre-runner plate front bumper and rear bumper without sensors how long would the both bumpers take and what would the cost be? Thanks again love your work!
Ok....I too would like to get one of your excellent bumpers. Put me in line for one of your pre-runner style plate front winch bumpers and skid plate just like the one you have above on this page!
Another front bumper ready for shipment. This bad boy is headed out to Coladylan to match his rear bumper bumper we fabricated for him if him a few months ago.
