Winch install (wiring)

Hey, I purchased a new winch and will likely install it in the next few days. I was planning on purchasing a better batter and was thinking about getting one with top posts and side terminals, then use the side terminals to wire the winch. Would this be possible, or a good idea?

Its a good idea. That way you can run each item to each post. (Truck leads, and winch leads) make sure you get a new clamp with threaded posts for the nuts to screw onto for the winch cable. You probably don't have a crimper to crimp a battery clamp to the winch cable.

This is correct. A winch under heavy load could possibly pull enough amps to cook the little internal metal strip that connects to top and side posts. I'd stay with top post.
