You guys are glutton for punishment, traveling on thanksgiving weekend (from socal to norcal)
Actually, if you leave thanksgiving evening, there is virtually no traffic, although you'd be surprised at how many gas stations are closed. I did this a couple years ago to see my friend in vegas and it was so cool driving out that way with nobody on the road. Although I did see my 'ice warning' worked in the car, lol. (was ~20 F)...Now coming home that saturday was a different story and would hate to have been one of the suckers coming back sunday!
I know that is vegas, but I'd bet it still applies any other way 'out of town'.

I'm not looking forward to my drive, and it's going to be much shorter. It might be snowing over the pass on Wednesday, which would make it even suckier.
looks like some weather is coming in tonight and tommarrow. Last sunday I hit up a FS road around 6K'. Gates still open and minimal snow. Snow however is sure a show stopper. If it gets jsut a little deeper things come to a halt fast.
Have fun, take pictures.
Four tire chains!!

I wish I could come wheel with you guys, but between Thanksgiving festivites Thursday and Saturday and my bday on Sunday I'm all booked up.
I have some places to wheel that happen to be less than an hour from where my families Thanksgiving dinner will be, so my mind is wandering, lol. Wheeling by day, big *** Thanksgiving dinner by night...sounds heavenly.
Be sure to take pics-o'plenty.

I finally broke the news to my family this morning that I might not be staying the whole weekend. I think they understand that wheeling is an addiction, and it couldn't really be helped. I just hope they don't try to set up an intervention.
And before anyone accuses me of blowing off my family...I'm really only obligated to be there on Thursday, and my brother and his significant other will only be there for the day.
I can picture the looks I'd get at the table... "I am thankful that you (uncle/aunt) have decided to host dinner at your beautiful house here in Coarsegold this year, because this allowed me to wheel for nearly a full day, and still beable to make it here in time for all this grub."
Using Thanksgiving day as an excuse to wheel: Priceless.
