a differential actually does the exact opposite. power goes to the wheel with the least resistance

i would do a locker or limited slip differential. i think your thinking of some type of traction control

for one wheel peel its a limited slip. some offer more grip, so to say, than others but i dont think any for our rigs. then there is a locker which locks both axles together while on the gas. theres the spool which leaves your axles locked together permanently. if youve ever heard the term lincoln locker, its the same effect as spool, youre just welding all the stuff in the open diff to lock them together; also permanent

A locker once engaged will lock the differential causing both wheels to spin at the same rate with the same amount of power distributed to each. Where a limited slip, once it senses one wheel is slipping it diverts power to the other wheel, but I believe there is still a 60/40 power ratio. I could be wrong about that..someone please correct me if I am mistaken.

Locker is only good for slow speed crawling and in most cases is engaged similar to 4lo. Come to a complete stop, push the button, then go. Where a limited slip is somewhat intelligent and requires no action from the driver, is always on, better for sand and more high speed offroading. Suspension and tire choice plays a huge role in traction as well. So if you have not upgraded either you may want to seriously look into that as well...maybe before traction control.

do you know which axle you have? Again, I could be mistaken; but I believe that most of the 04's came with a c200 axle with 31 spline shafts in the 2wd's.

you need a locker. count on spending $1200.00. look at your axle, if it does not have a removable diff cover, you have the 33 spline h233b. it is limited slip already, it just sucks. you need a locker. arb makes an air locker that can be turned on and off.

arb part #210224

this is the h233b rear axle.
