thats my point i was about to get one before the frontier, but spending 29k on a compact truck turned me down, here in the frontier community we don't hate tacoma's we just like frontier better but in the taco community it seems to me they hate the frontier.

Exactly what I was thinking when I started reading the Tacoma board.
Like what you bought or buy something else.
Bashing the "other" truck doesn't make your truck better.

I listed my reasons for going Nissan instead of Toyota in a couple of different threads on here, but no where did I outright bash the Tacos for no reason.

And remember, opinions are like a$$holes.

Not going to bash on toyota. Heck, I test drove it first because I was sure that is what I wanted, but liked the Frontier better.

Little surprised that one guy sd the Frontier rode like a car? I've driven both and the toyota sits like a car and rides like one. I know lots of people feel the same way including most of the "PRO's" (Fourwheeler, etc.) I liked the Frontier because it rides like a truck.

In hindsight, I am happy with my Frontier. The thing that bugs me the most about Tacoma's is the sheer number of them on the road...oh well at least they dont all drive dakota's/canyon's...
Add to that the plastic bed, low seats, car like ride, bug eyed headlights, and a nice dollop of $4000 more, and you pretty much summed up why I bought the Frontier.

And now, being a former Scion owner, I can also attest to the fact that the Toyota dealership service departments are just as bad as VW. They refuse to admit that Toyota ever made a mistake during manufacture. Yeah right, tell that to the '05 tC I traded in with 15k on the ODO that sounded like a coffee can full of nuts and bolts being kicked down the road. "that's normal sir". Sure it is, I'd hate to hear it at 30k miles.

on the 2nd page on that taco thread i posted the OP said "the frontier's interior and exterior are fugly" say what? i think the frontier is a better looking truck in every way shape and form, plus the vq40 is a much better engine. im not bashing on tacomas becuase that would make me just as bad as them but i just thought it was funny that tacoma owners DO think they own nothing but the best, the way they put it it seems KIA builds our truck in reality the frontier is just as if not more reliable than their precious tacomas.

I've always felt that Frontiers looked better, but Tacoma's have the better interior.

I think that will all change in time. Nissan has just recently ( 05 and up ) built a competative truck compared to the Tacoma's. Not saying the early model Nissan trucks weren't good trucks but I owned a 02 Double cab Tacoma with the TRD package and I test drove a 03 Nissan Frontier and I personally thought they were two totally differant trucks. After my Tacoma was hit I decided to get rid of it. Undecided on what to do because I really was wanting another Tacoma, although I wasn't crazy about the new body style I did some research on the new designed Frontier and liked what I saw. I think Toyota has gotten too comfortable with being number 1 in the past and it shows in there new trucks. Nissan has stepped up to the plate and shown everybody that we can be on top too. I think you'll start seeing alot more aftermarkets parts for the Frontiers in the future.

I'm gonna x1,000,000 that comment, well put Silverback.

I'm an ex Tacoma owner, 1998 4X4 V6 TRD SR5 extended cab owner, loaded down with all options. I have not one bad thing to say about that truck after 60,000+ miles, not one.

However in my quest for a new 4x4 (second gen) the Tacomas and the Nissans were getting a whole lot of love equally which had me scratching my head (after owning 2 Nissan 4x4s and the one Toyota 4x4).
My determining factors came down to (in this order):

1) Price
2) Looks (the Tacoma is a bloated pig in the looks department, imo)
3) Features (sunroof, leather, metal bed, etc.)
4) Reliability (yes the Frontier is as good or better from my research)
5) Engine HP/Torque
6) Frontiers are more unique in my area, everybody has a Tacoma. (I see two 2nd gen Tacomas for every 2nd gen Fronty)
