They mainly use magnesium chloride, which is less corrosive than other types of road salt. Also keep in mind that about 75% of Nevadans reside in Clark County (Las Vegas/Henderson) where it almost never snows, so the majority of cars you see from NV probably never even see magnesium chloride.
