UFC fights and Elite XC fights

Anybody watch the fights over the weekend. What did you think. I cant believe Kimbo got knocked out. Thought he would manhandle that dude. He outweighed him by 30 pounds. Thought the Rampage Griffen fight was a great fight. Thought the Chick fight was interesting, but I really dont enjoy watching Chicks fight. But they are pretty tough girls and that Gina isnt bad looking at all.

That is what happens when your only "technique" is to bumrush your opponent and hope to overwhelm them. It also shows that all it takes is one mistake and the fight is over (either through a TKO or a submission).

Kimbo is still a newbie in the MMA world and has a lot to learn before he is any good. Up to now, all of his opponents have been has-beens (i.e. Tank Abbott and supposed to be Ken Shamrock for this fight) or fighters with losing records. If he gets into a good camp and trains hard, he might turn out to be an above average fighter.

Kimbo is training with Bas Rutten. He has a real camp now. However, he is the same Kimbo. This fight reminded me of when he fought the cop in one of his "street fights" on youtube. I for one hope Kimbo goes away now. His 15 minutes of fame are over according to my estimates.

Bahahah, the great hope for EliteXC gets KO'd by a TUF/UFC reject. It's great. And the punch that caught Kimbo was a lightly tossed jab too.

Carano's fight was good. Once again the ladies steal the show for MMA. Kelly was doing everything she needed to do to win but just couldn't get Gina down. Very good fight.

Andrea is the man. I have to give it up to Roy Nelson though. He's no joke. 2 good sub attempts, and decent stand up. If he was in better shape he could be a serious threat in the HW division under any promotion. But AA is the man. I see him as one of the few people on the planet that could stand a chance of beating Fedor.

I was bummed, I missed most of all of it. I did however get to see the Griffin/Rampage fight. Good fight! Griffin was certainly working that leg, and some good ground and pound in round 2. Rampage did have some good shots, but couldn't get the job done.

I call "BS" on the Kimbo fight...If you seen that guy take a bunch from some of those underground fights he had,Thers no way he would have been stunned that bad for a short jab that guy threw at him with his feet not being planted.

It's starting to look like WWF now...Whats the deal? I guess it's all about the money.

I agree he needs alot more training and he hasn't taken on any real names yet.
But who would take the chance of this guy coming in fresh and taking out a vetran fighter and possibly ruining their carrier?

Sometimes a fighter takes a huge punch and does not knock him out. Sometimes a punch that does not look very damaging stops a fighter cold. I would not say its like the WWE as that is an absolute joke.

I'm not surprised Kimbo lost, he's a sham in the MMA world. While he is undergoing training, he is no where near the caliber of others there. The likes of BJ Penn, Anderson Silva, Matt Hughes, Forrest Griffin, etc, etc. Those guys have studied and trained MMA for a while now so they have control and tactic. Kimbo is a big gorilla that throws hard punches and hopes he can knock them out. The first EliteXC fight he was in was crap, the one where he fought the dude with the huge bloated ear. One, that trainer should have drained his ear prior to the fight. Two, Kimbo didn't look like he could last another round. I hope he continues to get his *** kicked and goes back to YouTube. He is not MMA. He is a backyard scrapper.

x10 to that... That fight was such bs. Who is this guy and why was he there ready to fight? I think this was a publicity scheme and the Shamrock/Kimbo fight will be on PPV in a few months...

If you didnt know. Elite XC only pays knockout bonuses. Unlike the UFC who pays for knockout of the night, submission of the night, and fight of the night. Kimbo is in a decent camp with bas rutten. If you have been to legends gym in LA its one of the gyms that bas a randy actually own and operate. Good place to train, just really expensive.

I honestly thought the 2 best fights were Carana/Kobold and Arlovski/Nelson. The problem with elite xc and florida refs is that:
1. the refs dont know how to ref fights (they are biased towards ground work).
2. Elite xc favors fighters marquee fighters.

I think the andrei and roy fight could have stayed on the ground longer. because roy was working the whole time he had andrei on the ground. Not to take anything away from the fighters. But I honestly thought that match should have gone at least another round.

On a side note dont forget to catch the bisping and leben fight on the 18th!
