That's insane. What's the hp/tq on those things? Man, that would be fun. Just to see the look on some cocky sports car driver's face... :P

Unfortunately, most of the guys around here just slap on really loud Flowmasters and call it a day. These are usually not diesels, though. Actually one of my best friends drives a lifted Ram with a huge CB antenna on top. He lives in the city and is about as far from redneck as you can be. He definitely wouldn't fit with the Dodge fanatics in my hometown!

I've definitely noticed more young punks in Tacomas, though. Not so much the metro type--we don't even have those--but more of the Xtreme guys. Blacked-out windows, lots of decals, loud exhausts, etc. Oh, and they also have the obligatory Oakleys, stereo cranked up, and The Lean. This seems to be more common with Tacomas than any other trucks. And this is just my observation. I don't hate Tacomas at all. If the Frontier didn't exist, I'd probably be driving one. Still, that crowd definitely goes for Tacomas over Frontiers. Which is perfectly fine with me!
I'm with you, dog. I don't mind bashing Tacos, but if I couldn't have a Fronty, I'd go with a Taco... and I don't own a pink shirt.

Ha! And now I get your "handle" too. Very cool career. I like to play amateur economist, but I'm so fiscally conservative that I have a hard time figuring how people live the way they do these days carrying such high debt without a care.

I drove my '86 Toyota X-Tra Cab Turbo truck for 17+ years and 225K Miles. I don't bash Toyotas either and like you, I found the new Tacoma fails to deliver what I want.

Funny commentary on the Redneck + big ol' Dodge formula! Dodge is practically giving them away; I see 'em everywhere. I think a Dodge buyer makes their first payment in 2012. <g>

If you're fiscally conservative then you probably share some of the same opinions with economists. Debt is only good if the future return (or sum of current and future returns) is higher than the interest paid. In other words, the people you mentioned that are ridiculously leveraged without a care...well, they are simply not following principles of economics. However, one assumption in economics is that people are rational, which I can argue there are many irrational individuals on this planet. But I digress...

Back to Toyota bashing. One place I've seen a lot of Toyotas is on the news. You know, you see all those beat up Toyotas in the Middle East with the bed loaded with militants packing assault weapons. Nissan should break into that market. With all the car bombings there has got to be demand for new vehicles.

Not to make too many jokes about that, but they use Toyotas because they blow up easier. Nissans are too durable.
