how big is your calve? Your drawing looks nice and if you are serious about getting it done then the best way to look for placement is to go get some spirit master and hand trace a stencil. Then apply the stencil to your calve, shoulder, chest, forehead, neck, back or whatever floats your boat.
The best thing about doint it this way is you can see it from diferent angles and see how it lays on that portion of your skin. This may sound weird if you dont know someone in the field or someone with alot of time in the chair but an outline my look nice on the bottom side of your forearm but look sh1tty on the top. The same goes with other parts of the body. The reason for this is the way your body moves, muscles may flex, bones may potrude and cause stretching or pitting in a normal position but be smooth in a relaxed sit your arm hear position. It may sound like rambling but to summarize, create stencil and have fun applying it to different parts of your body then you be the judge as to were it works best for you.

I agree w/ the others. On the back, all black.
We want pics when its done too. If you did that freehand than I am really impressed, but make sure your artist tweaks it to make a symetrical. Otherwise, I think that would look killer on your back. I'd do it, but the space is already taken. mb

yea thats all freehand...it has a few spots i know are not symmetrical so they would have to be tweeked by the artist.
i did try and apply it to various places, its a good size for the calf,or atleast i thought it was. but i couldnt decide between that and between the shoulder blades (sue said it looked good there...since i cant actually see...lol)...keep the opinions coming. This wont be for a little while since i suspect this wont be a cheap SOB so i need to save up the money for it.

im not big into tats, but since you are looking for opinioins,
i don't care for it. looks like a tribal thing, but it doesn't even mean anything. and tats don't always have to mean something, its just that as time passes, your perception of what is 'cool' changes. if you get a tat of something that means something to you, your feelings towards your ink is less likely to change.

I totally agree i think if you are getting a tatt it has to mean something special to you, if you just doodled something one day and thought it looks cool i would doubt it very much to stay cool for your entire life. And also, if it were me i would wait untill something special arises.. it sounds to me that you are looking for excuses to find something quicksmart because you really want a tattoo soon... again you will probably regret it later on in life. Theres nothing worse than having a tatt and somebody asking oh nice tatt what does it mean... "umm i dunno,"

Meh, don't listen to the naysayers, Jeremy. If you like the design and want to get it done, do it. I designed an arm band 14 yrs ago and forgot about it, then I found it when I was drunk one night, and went with a friend to have a well-known artist do it for me. I loved it then and I still love it now.
Next one will have meaning to me (something dealing with my two daughters...oh and maybe the wifey too) but I have no regrets for the one I have now.

I know a lot of people say get something that is important to you or memorable(a lot of my friends have tats and ive never asked what they mean, they either look good or dont *shrug*). I actually disagree with that. very often what is important or memorable to you now wont be in the future...infact you may want to forget that important thing but you now have a lasting reminder of it. To me a design that doesnt have any intrinsic meaning is more likely (at least for me) something i can live with permenantly. Plus if i do it on my back its not like i have to see it everyday:-p

If you want your design to be symetrical then fold your paper in half and draw out one side. Then put your design on a light box with the finished side on the insde facing down. Next trace the design, open the paper and retrace to complete the full symetrical version.
If you want a thick outline you might try using a marker with the same width as you plan on getting. If you want a 5 mag, 7 mag or higher then just go to a drawing supply store and they usually carry markers with relativly the same widths. Also while at the art supply store you may want to look into picking up a non photo pencil. The one I use is I beleive is called non photo blue. With these you can draw your outline, earase what you dont want but you dont have to then just use a marker to go over the lines you want with a darker pencil or marker. Next put it in a photo copier and none of the extra lines you did not go over with the marker or pencil will show up in the copy. Hope this helps.

Always Take Your Time On Choosing The Design And The Same With The Artist. I Have 8 Tats And Have Plans For A lot More. Kinda Addicted!!! But I Made An Appt With A World Known Tattoo Artist And Its Taking About 5 Months To Get In His Chair. But He Has A Love Affair With Wolves Like I Do And He Loves Doing Them. So I Dont Plan On Going Anywhere Else. Find Some One You Like And Really Check Them Out. Tattoo Artist Are Listed In The Better Business Bureau And With The Health Dept In Your Area.
Good Luck!! once you get one you always want another one!!!

tre g04-yea i tried that...still didnt work 100%...probibly just end up letting the artist do it. Ill have to try the trick with the nonphoto pencil, sounds like a good idea.
One of the guys i wheel with his bro is a tat artist and does some sick work (also draws comics and does movie makup type stuff). the drawings in the first post were with sharpie. i think thats pretty much as thick as i would want to go. once i get a chance to retrace the new ones in sharpie ill get those up and get your opinions on that one (pretty much the same with some minor changes to simplify the design).
