Texas????

more specifically dallas, might be looking to move there, but never been and don't know anything about it. Was supposed to be going to Salt Lake City, but probably will not work out, so there is an opportunity in Dallas. Any comments from those who live there??? I am hoping wherever i go i can mountain bike, hike, 4x4, etc. outdoor stuff .... help

Other than the fact that they have the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas is a nice town. I have been there and I liked what i seen. A little too hot down there for me to live but you should be used to that comming from FL. What are your different choices of places to move?

I would imagine Salt Lake City would prob. be better for the outdoor activitys like mtn biking, but theres a lot of open space in texas to do what you want.

When ive gone down to texas i always went h/b riding...i remember their being a ton of trails for that. I went around Dallas, and San Antonio...which is another nice town.

Another good site is Stats about all US cities - real estate, relocation info, house prices, home value estimator, recent sales, maps, race, income, photos, education, crime, weather, houses, and more . Its a forum, just go to dallas and a lot of your questions will be answered. Tells you a lot of usefull info. It will be all locals so they will tell you what areas are good, bad, were to stay away from, things to do, and how they like living there.

Austin is definitely the best "outdoorsy" city in TX...and good news- you will only be 3 hours away!

I live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and like it a lot. As long as you can handle the heat (which being from FL I am sure you can), you should be fine. Dallas just moved into the 4th larget metropolitan area in the US behind NYC, LA, and Chicago. Very reasonable house prices. As far as outdoor type activities, I have a few coworkers who mountain bike on trails by some of the area lakes and really enjoy that.

Well, given that you are coming from FL, you will be accustomed to the lack of elevation change. That is the thing that even Austin is a bit lacking in...not much in terms of elevation.

Im in funky town, its a concrete jungle so really you won't be doing any 4x4 unless you want to drive out someplace in the country. Lots of parks and trails to mountain bike. the night life is great. Unless you are actually working in dallas, check out the surrounding areas, they are a lot nicer, i like fort worth, but if you have any specific questions there are a lot of us here to help.
