I originally thought it was just some of that temp paint... you can see I tried to wash it off. Well, its wasnt. Time to call the fuzz. Found out that some kid went on a spree tagging houses, businesses, a school and other cars in my area. Luckily I just waxed the truck and Im no stranger to paint work, so I had it off in a matter of minutes. Im not really mad since it didnt really destroy anything... we were all kids and did stupid crap at some point.
Though I still hope they catch this little piece of..... Cops said they would be sure I received some restitution if they did. Did someone say mod money? Or since he likes to paint, maybe I can have him paint my fence
sorry man that sucks but at least it came off. people need to learn how to respect others stuff.
Thanks. Man, I tell my wife that all the time. why cant people just respect others' personal property? I cant even tell you how many times Ive had vehicles messed up due to other people. Worst one was someone where I work side swiped the entire drivers side (front fender, both doors and rear quarter) when they either pulled in or out of the parking spot next to me and dragged their bumper down my entire car. Never found out who did it and that cost me a lot of money and time to repair. (did everything myself)
Looked good after the repairs though and I learned a lot.
(shameless show-off photo op)
One word about restitution - don't go spending that money just yet. I had my Mustang GT Convertible stolen 8 years ago. Police caught a kid driving it. I got cheap estimates for HIS damage totaling $1300 and hand delivered them to the Victims Compensation office. Judge ordered him to pay it. They even set him up a payment plan! Long story short, he had a thing for stealing Mustangs, ended up doing 3 years for mine & 2 other cases. There is a lien on his income tax returns but he is not employed, on paper anyway, and probably never will be. Needless to say I've yet to see one cent. I honestly thought the same thing you did -- payday! I fixed the damage myself for a few bucks out of pocket. Retail by a professional would have been $1300. I was just happy to get my $6K car back, which had a $1000 comprehensive deduct anyway. State Farm even thought it would be cool to screw me out of the $200 tow reimbursement, since I wasn't the one driving it.
Please don't recommend I sue him, unless you are an attorney willing to take my "case" pro bono :^)
I have a feeling this person is a minor, (mostly because the tag looks like a kid did it... they didnt even use the special caps that established graffiti artists use... how do I know that. ) Guess that means his parents would get to pay me. Really, if it is a kid and his parents were ok with it, I would much rather put him to work for a day.

If the kid is tagging, he has parents that don't give a shyt and won't accept responsibility for his actions.
Tagging is part of a gang initiation process, has nothing to do with respecting someone elses property.
Natural selection will eventually avenge the vandalism to your truck.

That's a myth. The great majority of graffiti is non-gang related. A few decades ago, graffiti was likely gang related, but not so anymore. I was heavy in the scene until my mid 20's so I speak from experience. Before I get ripped apart, I can go into detail if anyone cares enough.
In the town I live in, its more likely some bored affluent kid than anything gang related.

Yeah, we had a couple of kids that sprayed houses in my neighborhood that weren't in a gang. Police got them and said they were just bored. They need to get jobs or a hobby!
