i certainly don't know you but i can imagine what might happen, if you do get some decent car (2.5s) you'll be happy with it for a little bit and then start to miss your truck and the way you rode high above most others. then you will go back and get a truck again within 6 months of getting rid of it and then have to put all that money back into to make it like you want. the rational part of me said i should get a honda civic with gas prices as they are, the realistic part of me said that i would hate it and said to hell with it, get the truck, you gotta consider what makes you happy deep down, gas mileage or a sweet truck

yea, I hear ya there.
I will definitely be missing the truck, but that is why I'm not looking at anything like a Prius, Fit, Versa, etc.... even though they get good gas mileage, I still want something with some style and class.

I guess I just feel like my truck is a waste. Yeah, it is a bada*s truck, but how often do I really use it for what it is? When I offroad, its awesome, but I rarely do that, only occasionally need 4x4 in the winter, and just sink money into offroad-type mods that I will never use. I am just starting to see the fact that I am sacrificing a lot of on-road capabilities/features for offroad features. If this was a trail rig, that would be great, but its not, it is a daily driver.

Iam not gonna read the whole thread but how about a used civic etc that are reliable and cheap and use it for the daily commute and with the gas youll save you can keep the truck and pay for the car. you have to look at real world economy like youll get from consumer reports, ie the best is the Prius at 44mpg so compare cost vs savings. Youre smart Steve I know you know what I talking about

Get a '92-95 civic. They are cheap, reliable, and still get 35mpg. then keep the truck as a weekend vehicle. you will definitely stop putting miles on the truck, keeping its value.

No air conditioning, slow top speed, and miserable range.

I would honestly get the manual, if you are looking at a 2.5S. As I said, the power band is not that great, and you need every horse you can get.

Unfortunately the 2-car thing won't work for me. Right now I am still in apartment living, and in the stage of my life where I am trying out different careers, relocating to different areas, etc, so 2 cars isn't practical, I wouldn't be able to keep track of them, lol.
Plus once you consider the purchase price of the vehicle plus an extra insurance payment, it would be hard to make up those costs in gas savings alone.

I considered getting a motorcycle (which is different, because I could load it in the back of my truck if I needed both vehicles at the same place), but the problem with that is even thought they get good gas mileage, you can only drive them ~6-7 months of the year, so it will take several years to make back the purchase price of the back in gas savings, and that doesn't account for an extra insurance payment.

I guess I am just thinking, I could de-mod my truck, sell it, sell the mods to make some extra cash, then put all of that and maybe another $1,000-$2,000 into a slightly used car that is both newer than my truck and has less miles on it. It would have lower insurance payments because it would be a 4cyl car, not a V6 truck, and get almost twice the mpg. This seems like the only scenario to me where the gas savings would overcome the money spent in 1yrs time.

There Are Alot Of Companies Popping Up To Join Car Poolers And My Wife And I Have Been Ding That Regulary For The Past Fewq Weeks And I Save Alot Not Taking The Truck And Her Car Gets Twice The Mileage And Is Paid For. We Both Get To Work 2-3xs Faster In The Hov Lane And Less Stress
