even with FWD an ser altima would walk all over a 325i bmw, the g35 is a nice car and its rwd, i say if you don't care what drive it is get the ser altima, dead sexy and fast, if you prefer rwd then i say get a nice used g35 sedan.

My folks have an 08 altima 2.5 S, it's a nice car and looks real sharp. Has nice pickup and good gas mileage. Two things I don't like about it is the limited headroom, while I am 6'5 I my head still is jammed in there and is uncomfortable to drive to far in. Second is the braking system in my opinion is WAY to sensative. I perfere brakes you can tap to slow down and hit to the floor if you need to stop fast but in their altima even the slightest tap of the brakes jerks you to a stop pretty bad. If your a driver who like to fly to the light and slam on the brakes it's an awesome system, but not really my best feeling.

On another note what about the sentra? Those are nice looking sharp cars as well and I believe they get better gas mileage, not 100% sure though. A bit smaller overall size wise then the altima, but somehow tey have more inside room and head room then the altima.

As the X owner of an SE-R I had no regrets other than having to sell it to get our Honda Odyssey. All the way around the car is a blast to drive and own. I rarely ran premium fuel in the car ever and never had issues with detonation. Now if you live in a hot region like AZ, then you might be forced into the premo gas, otherwise, you are good to go with 87/89 octane. Areas to look at on a used one: front bumper. It sits lower and is prone to getting dragged and damaged, so don't forget to look underneath.

I've owned both a 2k2 SE 3rd gen and our departed 2k5 SE-R and I miss them both. PM me if you have question or want to look at pictures of the car in general.

Good luck

um... yeah there is. i see them all the time.

but teh way i see it, going from a mustang V6 to a Nissan is a step forward with just about any model. eh, maybe its just me. but the SE-R looks pretty sweet, i'd hit it.

There are no 2007 or 2008 Altima SE-Rs

I'm 6'4 and gotta say the 06 Altima has the most head a leg room of any car I've seen. I can fully strech out my legs in the front passenger seat. Driver seat is just as comfortable. Brakes are touchy compared to the Fronty.

I attempted to test drive a Toyota Scion TC. I couldn't turn my head to the left without hitting the roof pillar.

1 thing to double check when buying a 2.5 is to make sure it has anti-lock brakes. He and I both figured that anti-locks were standard these days. He found this winter that his altima doesn't have them when he slid through a stop sign with the brakes locked up. We both looked at the window sticker and sure enought no anti-lock brakes listed.
no offense, ABS is overrated. its great for the general masses but if you know how to drive, not having abs will allow you to both stop faster and still steer (ABS helps you keep steering but it takes far longer to stop with ABS than without...unless you just mash the pedal to the flooranyway but who with a clue does that...unless you think you have ABS but dont anyway).

the altima 2.5 I had as a rental had a decent interior but the engine sounded like it had marbles in it until it was warmed up and overall was pretty unimpressive. if you're getting an altima, go with the 6.

Also, some 285/75/16's will rub (with stock wheels) with a 2" lift, some will not. (Please stop asking this 6x a week and in every tire thread.)

Get the SE-R. The wife unit has one, she loves it. It's got balls for a four door sedan. One of the car magazines tested it at 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. Gas mileage is really quite good as long as your right foot can behave. We average around 29 on highway trips and usually around 24 combined city/highway. The only negative is, the High Performance summer tires suck in the snow (Pennsylvania snow). I would recommend swapping out tires for winter, or having a second set of rims with good all season or snow tires on them. Oh, and don't mind our dog, he's an attention whore . . heh.

I'll wait for the hate posts, but having just come from the Civic world, I'd recommend a new Civic Si Sedan.
