I'm thinking about an Altima SE-R...Any thoughts?

I'm trying to sell my wife's 99 Mustang V6 and have been trying to figure out what else to get her. I've been thinking since we have my truck that we need a car that gets decent gas mileage (est. 25+) and of course it has to look cool. So I was thinking an Altima SE-R. What's your thoughts on that? Any reasons I shouldn't get one or why it should already be in the driveway? Thanks!

Why it shouldnt be in the driveway:
Front wheel drive (I hate FWD)
A lot of money for what you get

Why it should be in the driveway:
Very stylish for a 4dr
Fast for a 4dr
Its a Nissan

SE-R...isn't that the v6 line...i think i almost get better gas mileage then the SE-R lol. I'd stick with a 2.5S altima coupe, you'll see numbers a little bit higher than the 4 bangers on our trucks. I would say sentra, but im not sure about its "looks".

Altima 2.5's get over 30mpg. They average about 27 mixed. 3.5's get up to about 28 and average anywhere from 23-26. I have a habit of checking everyones mileage at work when I get in their car.

the only thing i don't like is the FWD part personally. i've driven a 6 spd SE-R altima and they run like a scalled dog no doubt. there is torque steer when you get on it but it's manageable (i've driven some that aren't). another car to consider would be a (rwd) infiniti G35 (man or auto, your preference). they have a better resale value from what i've seen and are really nice cars that come with a lot of the same features SE-R's do

I agree about the torque steering part. The SRT-4's have the same issue when they try and put down some nice numbers.

I think the G35 or G37 would probably fit your bill but idk about the milage thou? That is going to be your driving factor in all of this. A lot of nice cars have 6cylinders and they don't always get the 25+mpg.

i love the ser altima's, they look good and have plenty of power, i agree with everyone else, FWD is a biotch, our maxima has tq steer like nothing else, but if you don't giva a crap about FWD yada yada then i say get the ser altima you'll be very happy.

If your thinking of trading in your ride for the SER. Do it bro, because i regretted trading in my 06 SER for 07 Quest. But I had no choice because my wife had a newborn and we needed more room. The car is like a rocket and its a four door. I really like that car.. I get around 19 to 26mpg. The only problem is you needed premium gas. Other then that is a great car all around.

+1 on 2.5S Altima's, my roomate bought a brand new 06 back in 07 right about the time I picked up the frontier. His car get's 30 city which is pretty amazing for such a large 4 door.

1 thing to double check when buying a 2.5 is to make sure it has anti-lock brakes. He and I both figured that anti-locks were standard these days. He found this winter that his altima doesn't have them when he slid through a stop sign with the brakes locked up. We both looked at the window sticker and sure enought no anti-lock brakes listed.
