Is it illegal to...?
Hey guys. Well i just got my licence about a couple months ago so i need some help. I just got home from a little mishap. See, i was two lanes left of the entrance to a Bank parking lot, so in MY STUPIDITY, i quickly signaled and went right, but i didn't see the car on the right of me, and he had to brake. I would have hit him if he didnt brake, but luckily he did break and our cars made no contact. So i got into the lot and he was still on the road cussing me and stuff like that, and i tried to say i'm sorry. Next thing i know, he enters the parking lot from the back way and comes driving towards me quickly. I'm only 17 and this was my first mishap on the street so i was scared as hek when i saw this guy cussing and coming towards me. So i just simply leave the parking lot without trying to start any trouble but it seemed to me that he wanted to "teach me a lesson" so i drive away really fast and lose him in a residential area. Sure, you might think of me as a wuss, but i did whatever i could to not cause trouble or make a scene. Anyways, my point is, was it illegal for me to cut him off like that accidentally? Can he sue me, if perhaps there was a camera outside the bank? sorry if i sound stupid, but i'm just curious and somewhat concerned for my sake.

As you stated you cut him off accidentally, which happens. If you did on purpose then that could be considered road-rage. You did the right thing by not escalating things in the parking lot. It's not easy on the roads nowadays.

You did the right thing by walking away from the fight. We all have had our mishaps. Fyi, 25 is the speed limit in a residential. You never know if a child you don't see will just happen to run out in the street as you are driving by.

actually if a cop saw that yeah its illega you could get a ticket. but would a cop give you a ticket i doubt it, you'd prob get off but im sure he would have pulled you over. as for a camera catching it. i doubt anyone would go that far to try to get u in trouble and i doubt you would get it any trouble if they did.
but yes unsafe driving is against the law. just like accelerating to fast.

No harm to foul. It was a honest mistake you made by cutting him off. Your new to driving so learn from it and move on.

No harm no fould, HOWEVER, it was illegal for him to pursue you with the intent to cause harm. If he would have struck you or anything, it would have been meditated assault I reckon. Isn't there a cop on this forum?
If you think someone is going to follow you and hurt you, call 911, advise them of the situation, and stay in a public place.

Ya. I don't think he would have harmed me. But i didn't assume that, so i just quickly took off. Anyways, weird day today. 3 assault situations ALL IN ONE DAY, not including mine because mine was not even as serious as to what happened earlier.
