Ford vs Dodge

I'd be embarassed to drive a new 'stroke that you have to take the cab off to get at the motor!

Say what?

I am very confident in saying that i know more about powerstroke and superduty's. the only common reason for taking the cab off to get to the motor is on the early model 6.0L powerstrokes where the head studs lift off, when replacing those you nonrmally need to take the cab off. You do not have to take the cab off to get at the 08's motor...

when you open the hood of a superduty....all you see is motor, not like when you lift up the hood on a 1/2 ton gasser...

I just know that a Ford dealership told my dad that you had to take the cab off to change anything other than the injectors and oil. Thats why he went Cummins.

I do wish more manufacturers would take the plastic OUT of the engine bay.

they were wrong. because you can do exhaust, intake, tuner, lots of things.

Tell your dad he should have gone after an 05-07 6.0L or an 02-03 7.3L powerstroke.....the 7.3L are becoming the most looked for diesel truck. Last time i went to the dealership, i took my buddy who was looking to go diesel...they laughed when we asked if they had and 7.3's and told us good luck findin one! Happy to say i drove up to the dealership in my 7.3L

I also understand that you have to take off the cab of a 08+ superduty to replace the engine..

6.0's are junk, put out too much power for their own good and stretch the head bolts, and 7.3's are tanks. Thats what ford built their reputation on.

Dad traded in his well used 99 F250 Stroke on the cummins... The Ford was a nicer pickup all the way around, but the Cummins motor is amazing. Didn't take a ride in the new stroke with him, but he still feels the cummins engine is stronger.

the fords new 2009 f150 has a 32 valve 5.4 trion v8 making 320 hp and 380 lb ft tq. mated with a 6 speed auto almost runs with the 5.7 tundra, its all about gearing and low end tq. for these big heavy trucks, and well i think the current style and the 2009 f150 is the best looking truck on the market , so dodge can have the hemi with the power robbing tranny i'll take the less powerful, quicker f150 anyday.

My brother in law works at a ford dealership and says the same thing-have to remove the cab to do work on the 08's.

6.0's are junk, period.

6.0's are NOT junk! the early years were junk. and once you replaced the studs, the motor was fine. the later years of the 6.0 are fine, and i have an entire powerstroke forum full of 6.0 guys to prove it....
Ford rushed IH to get the motor into the trucks to early, the motor had issues (head studs) and was fixed in the later years. head studs were the biggest problem, there were others but nothing of great magnitude. This issue with the 6.0 hurt Fords relationship with IH/ Navistar and is why ford will be going in house after their contract is up. the 6.0 stock has more power than the 7.3's but comparing them on reliability and how simple it is to hot rod the motors....the 7.3L will win every time.

the new F150 will offer a 4.4L V8 turbo diesel engine with a 7 lug configuration. The motor will be good for AT LEAST 380hp and is codenamed the raptor. the motor is going to be made in house by ford and has much better mpg along with lb/tq and efficiency.

the new superduty motor for 09 i think it was, will be good for 500hp stock and is codenamed the scorpion. The motor will still go by the name powerstroke, but it will not be made by International Harvester/ Navistar.
