The true test of vehicle, team and driver/s is finishing the 1000.
That is an accomplishment in itself.
For me I was happy just gettting there.
Hopefully we will be back this year.

Yeah events like the Baja or the Dakar, are more about Choices/Decisions and luck, then the specific vehicle.

In order to complete in the allotted 36hrs a team would have to average 30mph or 48kmph. I think more teams would finish if they approached it with a more Time Speed Distance rally mindset. Precision driving and taking care of the vehicle over high speed and errors followed by repairs. Now if you want to win that is another story.

A lot of what you said is true but it is easier said than done.
There are places where a rock crawler would have problems.
Averaging 25-30mph might sound easy but it is not.

Team members finished all legs of the NORRA last year.
We have two cars entered this year.
Rally's are different than SCORE,BITD,MORE,CODE,etc. races.
Generally, fuel stops are not necessary.
Very little racing at night.
Have time to make repairs and rest.
Don't have to complete each leg.
That being said, the "Dakar" is the toughest off- road rally in the world.

It's getting it's tranny rebuilt and a new ecotech motor.
3 of the 4 drivers are on our team, including the owner.
