Did i jack up my sub?

So when i was screwing in the sub into the box i got (same old one eveyrone else has) The screw driver sliped off the screw and pierced thought the rubber part of the sub (part holding the cone to the basket i belive) After looking at it for a good min. holding all my anger back i just said F it and proceeded to hooking the rest of it up. Turn it on....Sounds like crap. The RF subs sounded better.

So i hope (odd) that the borken rubber part is the reason it sounds so horrible or did i just get my hopes up for nothing and it really dosnt pack much punch?

BTW my Gain and Bass Boost on the amp is all the way up and the Sub setting on my in dash is all the way up...

also if i get some rubber silicon or say some type of patch will this work and make it better?

use silicone. put a little on the front and the back side of the rubber. the silicone will seal the hole but still stay flexable so it will be free to move.

u shouldent have the gain, boost, and HU all the way up. i have my gain only about half way, HU is on 1, and the boost iam constantly turning up and down depending on the song.

maby its just the hole in the sub...but straight up you cant hear any thump unless i crank it. Its really annoying...ill do the silicon thing tomarow and let it dry all day and then see what happens...

Double check your speaker wiring... especially if you've got it bridged and your speakers wired in parallel etc etc etc...

i had a couple 8" rockford punch 2's just like that. they were alright subs but they didnt seem to have a whole lot of bass. my 2 12" punches from 2 yrs prior to that deff thumbed a LOT harder. and they were less wattage. i just wasnt impressed with the punch 2's. im running a kicker comp now. they hit pretty hard. but i cracked the hard part right in the center of the sub on my punch 2 and it didnt seem to make a diff at all, sounded about the same. and i had 1 12' punch 1 with a 1" slit in the rubber and it still thumped sorta hard, i think it was deff better before but it did have a little decrese. but i just threw it out too. rockford has kinda disapointed me latley. but im still using a rockford amp. thats about it.
