Yeah, I agree, I am a fan of most of their more recent designs...

If it's not rear wheel drive, al la S14 Silvia (240SX), then it's a waste of time. We don't need yet another FWD car! With the Z pushing 300hp, a 225-250hp RWD coupe would be dynomite so long as it was somewhat light and sporty to drive. That's what made the 240SX's fun to drive.

I still have no idea why they quit making RWD cars?? It would be nice to see the Altima Coupe in RWD but it aint gonna happen, theres just not a market for it here in the US anyway. Because FWD is safer and easier to control!! Yeah Right!!

This is a natural evolution since they shortened the Altima's wheelbase this year. If that picture is a true representation, I'd say they have (another) hit on their hands. I always wanted my 02 3.5 SE to be a coupe, but on that car the doors would have been huge. And you have to admit...there are worse things than looking like a G35. Maybe it's actually G35 based and it will be RWD...wouldn't that be a kick. The 4-door buyers might be pissed, but I don't see it as being impossible. I think this would be the perfect product for guys like me that would love a sporty rwd coupe without having all the other crap that comes standard (at a price) on the G. A 5-speed coupe with cloth and a VQ35 would suit me to a T.

FWD became the necessity for folks in the northern states before RWD cars were engineered to be more capable in winter conditions. You're seeing more Mercedes, Caddys and the newer Chryslers in the snow belt now due to traction control and all the other band-aids that help you control a rwd car in snow. I'm just thankful RWD is making a comeback. Nissan's new coupe would be well received as a RWD, but they're not gonna do that. I'd see it as a good alternative to a G35 (cheaper, with a larger back seat and a decent trunk) but I don't think that's what they're aiming it at. Honda's Accord coupe has sold so well for years, it's really about time Nissan got back in the coupe game.

GM's going rear drive in 2 (i think?) years basing all cars on their camaro platform. i think the altima coupe will be front wheel drive with a four banger and a 265 hp v6 like the 4 door. probably sportier handling and more agressive wheels and tires. trim a few inches off the wheelbase. so on and so forth. that's all the competitors do.

the nissan version of the G35 is the 350z plus a back seat

It's grainy, but you get the idea. Of coarse, to me, the new Altima looks like a small Maxima (Jr. Max) and the new Sentra looks like a small Altima (mini Max).

This guy, "The Hollywood Extra," seems to have all the best spy photos 1st.
