1 month work out results

So its been a little over a month since i started working out again. I started out at 172 with the beer gut...that didnt have beer in it, man boobs, and would loose my breath after running just 100ft. pretty sad! i now weigh 164... sounds crappy for a month but i am starting to see improvement. I hated how my gut was starting to hide my belt buckle. that is now 90% gone. I run about 1.5 miles every day on the treadmill. at first, i only made it 4 mins and about passed out. now, i run the whole 1.5 in a little over 8 mins. my breathing is alot more controlled. Ive been drinking this protein supplement called whey protein by body fortress. it has def. helped a lot! i feel more bulked up than i have ever been. im starting to see the outlines of my abs and other various muscles in the upper chest and back areas. i have also noticed that my back and knees dont hurt nearly as bad (a big plus!). It has been tough though. I will have some tasty looking treat in my hand and have to tell myself no. i dont eat fast food that much anymore. MAYBE...maybe! 1 time a week and that is rare. the only pop i drink is sprite or anything caffeine free. I do treat myself every so often if i have had a good week and get myself a dr. pepper or something. regular ice cream has been substituted for yogurt ice cream. being on the protein stuff, i have been drinking about a gallon of water a day. all in all... im very pleased how far i have come. im gonna keep at it and update a little farther!

i work out mon-fri and off sat sun for recovery.

just thought id share!
thanks!

Aaron

That's good progress.

I would also look into the P90x program. I heard that you need to be a decent shape to start that out.
I believe there's a few peeps here that are doing or done the program.

No before and after pics? That's the kind of stuff that gets people motivated!
I need to get back into bulking. I'm down to 172lbs and would really like to be up at 190 - 200 again.

WTF man? 8 lbs a month and you think thats not good? Thats freeking awesome. Some people spend a year trying to lose that much weight. The slower you lose weight, the more likely you are to keep it off. If you lost 50 lbs in a month and made your goal, then you didn't really change any of your habits. You just tortured yourself for a month. If you cut out most soda, fast food, and other junk food, then you might have actually changed your lifestyle and it'll be easier to keep it off.

For many people, weight sneaks up on them, but they expect to lose it in a month or two. That is ridiculous.

good point. so far im very happy with what came out. i have changed my eating habits by about 95%... i actually eat bananas and apples! Ive also started drinking skim milk!(really isnt as bad as i thought!) never did this before! thanks guys!

here are the updated pics. unfortunately i dont have any good pics of before.i will do my best to explain.
sorry bout the crappy webcam pics. they dont show the abs very well but wth... you get the idea!

still got some work to do on the sides... got that little overhang thing going on there. arms are a little more bulked up.

about half an inch of the waist on these shorts was covered.

Congrats on the improvement. I've been working out 3-4 days a week for a few months now. I wanted to tone up and drop some weight for the wedding, not to mention work on my metabolism. I use to be super athletic as a swimmer but I didn't continue on with it into college and my metabolism suffered. I drink a lot more water now and some gatorade instead of soda..though I have one every now and then.

mntbiker2008, congratulations on your success thus far. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Slow and steady gets results.

Did it in high school and swam the 500 freestyle and 100 back. Sort of a pain as they were back to back events.

Now, I am pretty much a couch potato. One day I'll get off the couch....
