Its quite easy to get a lot of power out of an electric motor. The question should be how long does the batties last a max draw... 5 min? might make 10 min?

well they claim 250 miles range but Im sure thats not at max power. even still its cool, BUT I still like my high revving gas powered internal comustion engine.

they tested one of those on a tv show although i cant remember which one. it was weird because it was flying by and it was really quiet. it showed it spinning its tires and there wasnt any noise besides tires. crazy, it kinda threw me off.

DC motors can put out some impressive torque... i don't know how they are storing enough juice to bring that high level of performance AND get 250 mi per charge... flux capacitor??

do some research on the GM Impact.

DC motors typically have excellent "pull out". They are able to generate maximum torque from zero revs. You've got to remember when you talk power/torque figures on internal combustion motors you are always talking about peak numbers, the average output is considerably lower. With all else equal i.e. mass, drag etc a 200HP electric (esp DC) in a vehicle is going to give supperior performance then a 200HP IC motor in that same vehicle, but as mentioned it isn't going to do it for as long. The trick in any electric one is having a big enough energy store. Liquid fuels have massive energy densitys.

They cost way too much money for a commuter car. If you want to drive from coast to coast you can only do it in 250 mile increments. It would be nice to drive back and forth to work though. I'd be willing to pay no more than $15,000 for it.
