either way andy here seems to have been doing his research and seems smart enough to know to look at all aspects of everything. this thread is going to clear things up for those who want to do it in the future.

thanks man, yeah ive been researching what i can, and if i fall i fall. but you can only do so much before you just have to say "**** it" and jump in
If I remember right the guy that did the Xterra V8 used an electric fan. The stock clutch driven one on the V8 stuck out to far which is probably why you read about front end mods. I have a Frontier, A Pathfinder and my sister has an Xterra. All of them have the exact same engine bay, so if you can stuff a 5.6 in an Xterra it will fit in ours. The guy that did the Xterra was a Nissan Engineer and he was ready to help everybody out and then he dissapeared. I think the lawyers got to him. He said the hard part was all electrical. The original thread is probably still on the xterra forum but I'm to lazy to go look for it.
I think the reason for the electric fans was also to make room for the engine itself. It may be that the V8 won't fit if you have the stock clutch fan in place, since there is already little clearance to begin with. But for a factory application, like the V8 Pathy, Nissan would have obviously had to keep the clutch fan. So the probably made the front clip a couple of inches longer, without necessarily changing the frame dimensions.
I'm betting with a slimmer electric fan setup it will cool better anyway. Plus free up some horsepower by getting rid of that heavy ***, ugly clutch assembly!

Hey Andy while you're at it you should throw on a stillen supercharger for the v8. I mean you've got the engine out already.
It doesn't look expensive or anything.
