well more pics and updates. progress has been very slow. first from wrong parts, short parts and missing parts. I switched from main bolts to ARP studs(that was one shortage) I called for custom studs and told them IM going from bolts to studs. Get the studs 2wks later and WTF where are my nuts and washers? OH well we only sent you studs, uh I need nuts and washers too guys...I thought the $175 was cheap(addanother $85)
fit all bearings, file fit rings and this time Im going with Total Seal gapless top rings to increase cylinder sealing and filling. After breaking a ring 3yrs ago on last build I bought a 7 cylinder custom ring set. You know what happens, you dont have a extra set and you break 1. Have an extra and have no issues with ring breakage. I also got a custom tapered installer this time. I used them on my othe chevy engine build instead of a ring compressor. They work well. You drop the piston assembly in , fit over cylinder and push down, no issues fast and easy without damage.
so here are the pics of the shortblock finalll done that I finished sat. ready for heads the timing chains blahblahlah

It's nice you have the patience for this; I'd have been pretty frustrated with all the waiting and stuff and anxious to get going...but, sounds like it may be moving along again, so can't wait to see final product and how it performs!
looks good i need to pick your brain we need a meet

From my understanding supercharging truck is generally the preferred method of introducing non-stock forced induction. The steadier power band is more conducive to the demand for power in certain applications. I was strongly considering a supercharger due to the lack of power I'm currently dealing with. As of now we're looking to do a turbo'd V8 swap from a Titan... random events transpired, long story, kind of.
Bottom-line, I was recommended not to use superchargers at high altitudes due to how thin our air is? I live at about 5000 ft and drive up to 10,000+ ft. Is this a legitimate reason to avoid supercharging and go with a turbo as the current plant dictates? Your input would be appreciated as you've done more forced induction work on the VQ40DE than I've seen anywhere else.

^^ Ive never heard of that, thin air is thin air. you draw in what you have and force it in in the form of boost. That being said heres some more pics......
I did the chians tonight and just need to clean and install the front cover. Ill be reinstalling the stock belt setup and getting a custom balancer made by BHJ with a 8rib in front of the 7rib engine belt. It lines up perfectly. Next will be to trial fit the engine and blower in the engine bay and see what is gonna have to be moved, cut and fit. Now comes the hard part of the build. Im also going to ditch the lower LS intake and decided to fab a welded plate box to dress up the setup intead of just blocking off the port and that will maintain the integrity of the LS kit should future plans change for something differant....

today did the mockup in MDF for the lower blower intercooler box which shows the way it will mount to the factory lower intake. I duplicated all the pieces so that they can be cut from 1/2" aluminum plate and welded. Then once the blower is positioned over the engine the bottom will be milled to open up for the lower intake. 1 step closer on Christmas eve. Merry Christmas everyone.

Well dropped the engine in today to check fitment..and with alittle cutting on the firewall and wiper cowl, the hood CLOSES!! and without further cutting. definitly didnt expect that. But Ill trim more for clearance. Relocated brake line and engine management harness. But now its a go as there are no other issues for fitment and I can start spending the $$ on the new aftercooler fab and order a custom 2 pulley balancer.
SHOTS WITH HOOD CLOSED
NEW SCOOP? FRONT FACING?
REAR FACING??
OR SAME OLD ONE ALREADY ON HOOD?
