Getting better MPG with 93 tune compared to 87 tune

RE: SuperChips Cortex 4950 Programmer

Wasn't expecting this but since switching from an 87 tune to the 93 "performance" tune, I'm getting between 1 to 1.5 better MPG. This means I'm paying an extra $5 at fill-up (87 vs 93 prices) but saving around $4 from better mileage.

I'll buy that for $1

Anyone else notice better mileage with "performance" tune?

FWIW: Flat land 50/50 driving on 3rd tank with 93 octane.

Ya, there is also no ethenol (usually) in Premium fuel.
Those handheld tuners usually give you a hair better mpg with the performance tune.
Now, My uprev preformance tune nets me about 12-13 mpg.

Wish that was the case. Down here all gas has the ethanol crap...on my 2-stroke's I change both fuel pump diaphrams every 6 months because of what ethanol does. I only use 93 octane for those so...

1.5mpg x 16 gal fill = 24 miles. So, aren't you paying $5 for 24 miles?

when i switched from the "economy" to "performance" map on my truck (custom uprev tune, see signature), i showed about the same mpg (21-22 combined) as before but now i have the extra oomph. a little less than 10% torque gain. it's noticeable and i like it

Yeah, thats what I hear. To be honest I only noticed a small gain and its mostly because the cortex removed the WOT restriction.

But for a beater truck, I like the simplicity of being able to make quick changes...besides, I paid very little for it. Hell, I only bought it for the ability to raise idle a tiny bit.

I can change my tune on the fly, literally 2 seconds.
No stopping the truck and programming.

My MPG stayed the same with the BD tune, when I kept my foot out of it..

I wanted an Uprev, but they didn't (and still don't?) have a shop in my state
