Finally got around to finishing my rockers, I didn't do the prettiest sanding job I could simply because I got fed up, and it won't be the last dent I put in my rocker i'm sure.

My buddy is getting a Jeep after the winter and I think I might look into buying an old frontier or X-terra for parts and taking the 4WD out of it. I wonder how much work is really involved in simply transferring the parts over into my frontier? Either way i'm also looking into getting a 3" lift from AC. we'll see what happens soon I suppose.

Looking good. Did you do the work yourself?

Here a picture of my truck with the fat flare.

I was thinking to placing some 17inch Nissan Titan wheel on the frontier with off-road tires. The titan rim spec are 17X7.

I always do my own work when I can. There are not many local mechanics I trust, and I love working on my truck as a hobby. I want to learn more and more about doing auto work so this was my first time doing any bodywork, fixing my rocker cost me 40$, rather than the $250-300 I was quoted by a local place.
If I felt like the job I did was unworthy I would have spent the cash but my rocker is twice as strong as it was before.

I like you method of approach. I am just like you. I am a mechanic and i trust no mechanic. Most of them i find to be Brokchanic. if i should have a mechanic work on my car.which never happen.I always ask to see the mechanic own car. Most mechanic drive NEW car so it does tell me a lot about their skills and that might be no-skills. A lot of them will never make it,cause they can`t fix they own cars. smart people know what better and they do it for them self...like me and you.

That's not a bad little DIY fix for the rocker. There are rough spots, but it is hidden behind the closed door. I can't stand people that hide damaged goods to get more money or a sale.

If you look into getting bigger fender flares, I'd suggest waiting until you got bigger tires. It'd look pretty goofy to have a fat frame sitting on donut sized tires. Kind of like a fat man on a road bike...

I never said anything about getting bigger fender flares, I have no intentions of doing so, another member simply asked why I had smaller ones. I don't have the cash for anything cosmetic, i'm soon upgrading to a set of 31's and this summer i'm ordering a 3" lift.

My truck came the way it is, with the fat fender flare. When i wash the truck i will take front picture. Also, the intake tube which connect to the MAF and air box is 3" and the only opening on the air box is 2 inch to allow air flow to enter the box via engine. I have remove the three intake muffler from the box and now i have three opening of 2 inch size for more air flow. Truck does response better and accelerated faster. It was a free mod.

haven't updated in a while, I've been back in school now and i'm getting pretty busy with my coursework. But I did manage to find the time to pick these up.
The picture on the left is the tires my truck came with, 225/70/15. Or 27's, so these 31's should be a nice upgrade. Goodyear Wrangler authority.

Next step, CB radio, new tow rope, then a lift, and possibly regear my diff. I've got an OBDII scanner coming in the mail, along with a tailgate net so I can shed some weight from my truck. This summer I may also rhino-line my interior, and tear up the old carpet.

Took this yesterday just before a storm hit us. First time i've had my snowmobile in the back, truck handled it like a champ.

Got my 31's installed, I felt bad telling my mother I would probably never put the winter tires she just bought me back on my truck, haha.
They did rub a small amount during suspension compression so I took a heat gun and a knife and just cut a quarter sized piece off of the fender flare corner, all is well now.

Update

It's been ages since i've posted anything on here about my truck, i've been so busy with school I haven't found time to do very much work. I've been offroading much more frequently and there are definitely a few things I soon need: hi-lift jack, some type of portable shovel, portable air compressor, other things like this. I'm also soon taking the plunge to purchase a 3" lift for my truck, i'm thinking i'll go with 4x4parts instead of Calmini.

So, here are the updates: I was driving out my road one morning and the steering completely went, I open up the hood and the steering shaft completely snapped off. I guess the previous owner hadn't heard about the recall, Nissan fixed the part for free and I had surprisingly good service.

Next, I was sick of dealing with a broken tailgate, so I just bought a net to put across, and pulled a ratchet strap tight across to prevent the bed from warping.

Finally, when nissan replaced my steering shaft they informed me that my idler arm was completely shot. So I ordered myself a new one of those, and the brace from calmini and finished installing those about ten minutes ago.
