Nellis Dunes/Apex is set aside just for off roading. North side of Nellis AFB. Just take Las Vegas Blvd north until you pass the speedway (or 15 north and exit Apex) and it's all the country on the right side.

EDIT: found a video. Even 4x4s have trouble in that soft sand of Nellis so I don't feel so bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47H0SsIp5q0

I have a led lightbar test video and I got my power steering hose on, after 11 years it finally popped. It was VERY easy to do, hardest part is dealing with the oil, getting it out and getting all the air out of the lines. Putting the hose on is extremely easy thanks to Nissan. In our wheel wells we have rubber mats that just snap on/off instead of welded steel. Once you snap off the mats you have complete access to all the bolts.

Finally got around to testing my led light bars out in the desert. I was planning to ride around with the bars and film it but the camera battery died. That is why I get all quiet at the end of the video. I see the battery symbol flashing..

I will have video in about 30 minutes but until then here are a bunch of pics.

I had to tow a 4x4 Jeep out of a hole with my 2wd Frontier

Nice job on the jeep recovery and nice video. Also, these don't appear to be properly licensed drivers in the above pic

Man that ARB was the best money I spent so far! I would have got stuck a dozen times today without it! Is Gass Peak Road considered a 2wd friendly trail? The first half maybe but that 2nd (east side) half was sketchy as hell!

It is beautiful back there but I was so busy trying NOT become a permanent resident to take many pics in the hard sections. Here are some of the mild parts.

I got around to the part that heads back towards Vegas. From Vegas you can see this small hill with a clearly visible trail going up it (you see it in my last post). These pics are from the top of that hill. You can also see if I got stuck out there at least I had something to eat.

Follow the fence he says. It will take you to the gun range and you can get out he says....Oh yea what about this Nomad? How am I suppose to get up that?... LOL

I went back to Gass Peak and followed it as close to Vegas as it goes. I found a hole in the BLM fencing down there and then followed 215 until I found gate that had been left open at Losee. Made it home!

Oh and a short video clip just for the hell of it.

I beat Gass Peak in a 2wd youtube video

I found this video showing almost all of Gass Peak road in time lapse. Yea I can see from the video that the 2nd half of the road is in much better shape than today. I don't see them crossing any of the huge ruts or wash outs that I had to. Maybe the rain has chewed up the road since this video was made. There were a few spots today I had a hard time telling which was road and which wasn't.
