After the first time bolting it on, I think the PITA aspect of it would keep you from bolting it on and off every time you go offroading.
If you go offroading so infrequently then you probably arn't hitting the trails that would require such a silder.
If you don't off road that often and have a slider for the looks then you wouldn't be taking it off, cause you want all the mall rats to oggle your ride including the sliders. Finally I doubt you will notice any decrease in MPG's from the weight. It is like carrying an extra passenger or less.

Should I go on.....

If you feel that you need to you can but I know I already understand your point but I can't speak for others.

I think 007 gave a nice response to why he was looking to do it the way he was but still don't know exactly what BlackTigerSE is thinking about.

I'm jsut being stupid. Thanks for understanding.

A note on painting. I have found that brush on rust-o-leum gloss black works very nicly for this type of stuff, frame rails, suspension stuff. I use to rattle can everything in flat black. But now I am a true gloss black brush on guy.

The brush on goes on very thick, equivlent to 3 coats or more of spray on stuff. The finsih is decent. It goes on kindda rough, but smooths itself out as it dries. You don't need to worry about taping thing off either or over spray. Saves time from taking thing off jsut to paint. Finally the gloss black. Dirt doesn't stick to it like flat does.

I buy a bunch of cheap brushed from Harbor frieght, like 30 cents a brush, and then throw them away after I am done using it. No use in trying to clean them. The oil base take a bunch of gas or thinner to clean off.

An off road friend pointed me in this direction and I am truely sold. Cheaper than rattle cans in the long run. Better for your lungs. Better for the enviroment... JUST BETTER.

There for every few stupid remarks I make, I'll at least give a usefull tip.

this doesnt offer any daily protection from idiots opening doors into you and the GOD forbid "T" bone, in which case you have a exterior type cage at frome level to keep the car from coming in before hitting the frame to slow it down. besides at a couple hundred pounds, leave your gf or wife at home

im just showing you guys how im doing it. there really is no right or wrong way to put sliders on. Its all a matter of opinion. I'm trying to decide between paint or bedline. Ive got to go find some thick metal though.. hopefully ill have this done this week and ill be able to report on how it worked after Moab.

here ya go guys

this is the middle section of the sliders uses a 3/4 grade 8 bolt that goes thru a hole in the frame , the front mount is an L shape that ties into a V shape cross member as well as a 3/4 bolt thru the frame and on CC the back mount uses 2 threaded nuts in the frame
dont have any pics anymore but they have been tested and used and do not flex
also id recommend rustoleum , bedliner flakes easy and doesnt stick as good
