Im doing the one on the right for sure, but run the plates all the way up and down the frame (so that when the truck lands on the sliders all the stress goes primarily to the very top and bottom of the frame tube, essentially pushing/pulling the horizontal parts of the tube instead of pushing in or puckering out the vertical wall). It will be very easy too. ill post pictures. The guys at Ronin helped me out alot to figure out this design.

I really dont understand all of the effort put into devising a way to bolt on sliders. I am not being critical, but only asking why? If they are welded on, you are doing no damage to the frame, so that shouldnt be an issue. If you damage a slider, you cut it or the damaged part off and weld a new piece in...
I would think that welding them to the frame is the strongest and most reasonable way to do it. Opinions? Thoughts? What am I missing here?

Your missing the big picture...

Would you be so kind as to take a few moments out of your busy day to explain "the big picture". Or is that too much to ask?

It appears that their overall plan is to make it removable so that they do not need to be attached all the time. This would help cut down on the total weight of the truck for its daily driving but it would make it possible to hook them back up for offroading.

I think the big picture is: they don't have a welder or know how to weld.
I don't think that anyone would bolt and unbolt them for off roading. The only reason to bolt them on is so when you want to sell the bars you can unbolt them and sell them. If welded it will require you to cut them, which might make it too short for reattaching to another vehicle. My sliders are welded to the frame. The only thing that I would question about the trail gear silders is how strong are they. I built mine out of tube stock with too thin of a wall thickness. I took afew hits and kindda messed up the bars. I figure I will jsut run them until they are bashed to hell, then cut them off and either make another set out of thicker stuff, or buy some pre fabbed ones. Either shrocks or these. I want to see some trail side test of them hitting rocks.

Personally I wouldn't take them off when I am not off-roading but I guess others have their own reasons too. |

ill try and answer some questions but im a little confused myself. Yes, i will be welding alot for these. If i didn't want to weld i would have bought premade shrock sliders. If you wanted to, you could take these off when your just driving around but that would be alot of work. Mine will be permanent but i want to be able to remove them paint them, take off body lift when i SAS, and if they become damaged. Alot of it depends on how you are going to use them. i am going to be constantly slamming my truck on them because there is alot of rock wheeling out here. If your only using them occasionally, you would be safe with factory mount spots. but my big picture is the long run. the welds will be much stronger than the frame, and over time in verrrry small increments the weight of your truck on the sliders could bow your frame. what im doing is alt more than what is really required, but i will be 100% sure they are strong and i wont cause any damage to my frame, yet be easy to remove. its just taking extra precautions.
