Scanner/CB Antenna Wiring

Sooo I know some of you guys have wired scanner/cb antennas along the rail in your beds, and tonight I mounted my scanner antenna to my rails... now my question is...

where did you guys run the wires.

The easiest method i'd see is if there was a hold directly across from the bed's gromet, so i could go right into my cab, and under the floor to my passenger seat.

What it looks like, is i'll hafta go along the frame, up to the engine and through the firewall back into the cabin... a lot of extra work.

Sooo let me know what you guys did, if you drilled a hole, where did you drill it and anything you woulda done differently?

This truck is getting things installed very cleanly. My scanner antenna wire has a wire covering over it that is very nice (not the plastic wire loom, its a mesh cover), and the ends are even heatshrinked where the connectors are. Im going to glue the mesh wire along the lines inside my bed so its barely noticeable.

Sooo like i said, whered you guys run the wire?

i went down between the bed and the cab, then up the frame. However you can bring you wire up into the cab under the front seat area. if you take off the plastic trim there is a hold under it that goes through. let me know if you need pics. however the hole is where one of the white clips hold the trim down, so you would have to take that off.

x2 on the vent. its basically right above the grommet in the front of the bed. lower the driver rear seatback, pull the carpet away from the wall and its right there. easiest way into the cab from the rear of the truck.

X3 on the drafter duct behind drivers side rear seat. I went through the duct and under the scuff plates up to the radio. Sorry, I don't think I have the actual mount, but it bolts to the utilitrack.

That explains why i see so many people mounting their antennas on the drivers side.. i put mine on passenger side since my scanners on passenger side (underneath front passenger seat)...

maybe i'll move it to the drivers side, i have 50 feet of wire MORE then enough

If you can trim the wire down, that will help obviously.
