Puddle lights?

It's time for me to start working on a puddle light system and need a few ideas.

What did you use?

Where did you mount them?

How many are you using?

How did you wire them?

Pic's are always helpful.

Are you looking for a streetglow or LEDglow type of thing for off-roading? I would also suggest that you go with an LED set-up over a tube set-up because it would be a lot easier to break a tube then compared to an LED. Also, power consumption is greater with the tubes over LEDs.

Good Luck.

I think there are also a couple guys on CT that have done this mod.

i mounted 8'' white led strips under each door right behind the pinch weld. they are not visible unless you are under the truck. they are wired into a relay set off by the bed light, that way when i unlock the truck they come on or when i hit the bed light for setting up camp. it works well the only problem i have is they get muddy kinda quick and after the lift and tires they dont light up the ground as well.

i plan on installing some brighter lights if these ever break, im just waiting for them to get hit by a rock.

Im not sure if you saw mine at GWNF Mike, but I just mounted some cheapo "Walmart" fogs to the top of my rear axle, and wired a simple toggle switch in the cab. They worked well as aux backup lights until light housing filled w/ water. I removed them and will just buy another more heavy duty set of lights. I didnt want the lights hanging down so they could get crushed, that is why I picked on top of the axle as they are well protected up there except maybe for the stray bit of gravel kicked up by the front tires. Also the AC rear diff skidd provided a good place to attach the lights to

i dont have any pics but i can probably have them up by tomorrow. my camera charger is at work. the only thing that might be a problem for you would be light interference from your sliders.

i was going to mount them in my side mirrors and dremel out part of the bottom to mount them flush, but buying the bulbs for that would of cost a bunch more and my truck was fairly new and i didnt feel like cutting it up yet.

I look at the walmart ones and saw that they where not sealed. I don't know where I could mount them so they would not fill with water.

hit up ebay for the brightest LEDs you can find WITH RESISTERS and then head over to rat shack and buy a couple of hobby boxes. then design your own using the boxes as the mount for the lights.

I have a friend that used the cheap tractor lights from Tractor Supply-he mounted them inside the frame rails.

No pics, sorry.
