Need some photoshoppers to mock me up a pic...

ok, so me and drew (irongrave) were talking on aim and i decided to post a thread. here's the idea: paint the engine cover to match the truck. i know basic enough right? i have no skill whatsoever so i'd like to see a pic of a storm gray truck engine bay, then match it on the engine cover and the stock intake tube part where it has the chrome nissan logo, i'd probably change the numbers (4.0) to black, drew is thinking red to match is gray/red theme, either will do. i'd really like to see what this looks like before i go spending money on it. it probably wouldn't cost a whole lot to do. also any other flat surfaces that are easily visable as well (relay boxes and such) i appreciate it in advance!

p.s. there is a thread (we looked) about this but it doesn't have a pic of a finished product on a fronty so i started a new one

edit: here's a pic of drew's engine bay, not the best for this but it will do...

not sure how it will look, but i'll give it a whirl

hmm..... proving to be too difficult for my skills because the engine plastic is black. If it were a lighter color it would be easier.

thanks for the attempt, i tried to edit a photo of another storm gray fronty and it was almost impossible because of the variations from one pixel to another...

For storm grey it might be hard, but Krylon makes paint now espcially designed for plastics called Fusion. It works awesome. It comes in probably 25 different colos so you might get close. Just clean the surface well, mask off the emblems and paint away. It will take several coats, but it does stick and does not chip easily at all

well i was gonna take it to my buddy and have him do it up "right". would primer stick to it (masked badges of course)? if so, regular high temp paint would work wouldn't it? then clear coat over? at least that was my plan, i don't want it to look like a wal-mart special, we've got way too many of those "customizers" here in hickory...

painting plastic is a bi&ch, also heat will play a part in it. i dont know how well it would hold up to that constant heat. add onto that the dust and oil and other fluids that could get on it.

edit, wonder if you could get the color you want and try it instead of paint, as fiberglass resin? that should handle the heat and everything else.
